– Kalisto captured the U.S. Title from Alberto Del Rio in a 15-minute title match. Kalisto received the title shot after beating Del Rio in a non-title match on last week’s Smackdown.
– Brock Lesnar returned to Raw TV to be forced to enter the Royal Rumble match. The story was Lesnar, via Paul Heyman, wanted to bypass the Rumble and challenge the WWE champion at WrestleMania 32.
Lesnar ended the show by taking out the heel roster, then taking out WWE champion Roman Reigns with an F5. WWE highlighted Lesnar and Reigns as the favorites for the Royal Rumble in two weeks.
– WWE formally announced Sting as the first 2016 WWE Hall of Fame inductee.
– WWE announced three matches for this week’s Smackdown:
- U.S. Title re-match: Kalisto vs. Alberto Del Rio
- Tables match: The Dudleys vs. The Wyatts
- IC champion Dean Ambrose & Neville vs. Sheamus & Kevin Owens
– New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees was shown on the front row with his family with Raw in New Orleans. (Video below released by WWE.)
Isn’t it about time for Undertaker to make his annual “shocking” return? Undertaker screwing Lesnar in the Royal Rumble would not shock me. This could set up a final Lesnar/Undertaker match with Undertaker’s career on the line. Of course WWE could always line up another Wrestlemania opponent but I don’t see Undertaker missing this Wrestlemania without some type of retirement match or announcement.
