WWE legend Mick Foley was interviewed in this week’s segment on ESPNews’s SportsCenter broadcast Tuesday night.

Foley reminisced about his WrestleMania career, including setting out to steal the show with Edge at WM22 since he heard whispers about never having a classic WrestleMania match to that point.

After some basic back-and-forth between Foley and Coach about playing different characters, facing The Undertaker inside Hell in a Cell, and other WWE memories, Foley got down to the business of advice to the current WWE roster.

Foley said being able to “connect with fans in a real way” made up for not being a “finely-tuned athlete,” whether he was playing himself, Mankind, Cactus Jack, Dude Love, or The Commissioner. Foley added that “the quest for every WWE star is connecting with the audience in a real way.”

Foley said he took that mentality to his outside-of-wrestling endeavors as an author and stand-up comedian. “It’s about connecting, creating memories, and telling a story,” Foley said, noting that sometimes it’s in front of an audience of three people, or potentially 100,000 at WrestleMania 32 in Texas.
