9/13 Lucha Underground TV Report “Cien”: Rey Mysterio vs. Matanza, Puma & Fenix & Sexy Star vs. Worldwide Underground & Martinez

LUCHA UNDERGROUND TV REPORT – “CIEN”
SEPTEMBER 13, 2017 (Season 3, Ep. 35)

-The show opened with recaps El Dragon Azteca-Pentagon, Mundo-Puma and Mysterio-Matanza.

Backstage: The Worldwide Underground were looking at Ricky Mandel’s ID. Mandel revealed that he had changed his name to Mundo. Johnny saw the ID and said he would not call Ricky by that name. Mundo then said that Ricky was an official member of the Worldwide Underground. Mundo then said he has to take care of Puma tonight and stormed off. Ricky then looked at his ID and celebrated that his name change got him into the Worldwide Underground.

Announcers: Vampiro welcomed the audience to the show. Striker revealed who Puma’s partners would be or tonight: Sexy Star, Fenix and Cage. Striker then hyped the other matches coming up later tonight.

In ring: Santos introduced Prince Puma’s team. Next out was the Worldwide Underground. Johnny told Ricky that he is going to sit out this match. Mundo said that he found a replacement or him and he is a friend of Fenix. Marty Martinez headed to the ring.

[Break]

1 – PRINCE PUMA & FENIX & SEXY STAR & CAGE vs. THE WORLDWIDE UNDERGROUND (JOHNNY MUNDO, TAYA & P.J. BLACK) & MARTY “THE MOTH” MARTINEZ – Atomicos match

Marty started the match with Sexy Star. Star dominated Marty. Marty tagged in Black and Star tagged Fenix. Fenix got beat down. Taya and Cage both tagged in. Taya kicked Cage in the corner. Cage got up and hit Taya with a clothesline then Mundo with a suplex. Crane walked down to the ring and stole Cage’s gauntlet. Cage chased after him. Puma took out all of the Worldwide Underground. Fenix and Star hit dive to the outside which allowed Puma and Mundo to fight in the ring. Black took down Puma which allowed Mundo to hit the end of the world for the win.

WINNER: The Worldwide Underground and Marty Martinez at 5:40.

Post match: Marty went over to Santos. Santos slapped Marty several times. Then Fenix came in for the save and knocked down Marty

Backstage: Crane brought the gauntlet to Catrina. Mil Muertes attacked Crane which allowed Catrina to pick it up. Cage attacked Catrina. Catrina dropped the glove and disappeared. Cage, Mil and Crane all fought each other. Meanwhile Dario dropped in and grabbed the glove before anyone could catch him.

Announcers: Striker announced Dario made the decision for next week to have Mariposa and Marty Martinez face off against Fenix Melissa Santos.

[JD’s Reax: Don’t kow how that could be possible since during that time he would have made the announcement, Dario took the gauntlet amidst a huge brawl backstage.]

In ring: Santos introduced El Dragon Azteca, Jr. to the ring. Next out was Pentagon Dark.

2 – EL DRAGON AZTECA, JR. vs. PENTAGON DARK – match for Aztec Medallion

Pentagon started out on the attack. Pentagon fell to the outside which allowed for Dragon to hit a corkscrew. The two continued to brawl on the outside. Dragon hit a crossbody back in the ring. Pentagon hit a drop kick followed by a double stomp or a pin attempt. Dragon came back with a DDT. Pentagon then countered a second DDT with a back breaker. Pentagon caught Dragon on the ropes and hit a package pile driver for the win.

WINNER: Pentagon Dark at 6:33 to win an Aztec medallion.

Post match: Pentagon went to break Dragon’s arm, but Matanza came out for the save. Dario restrained Matanza from attacking Pentagon. Pentagon left the ring which allowed for Matanza to obliterate Dragon. Rey came out for the save and medica attended to Dragon.

3 – REY MYSTERIO vs. MATANZA w/Dario Cueto

Rey attacked Matanza out of the gate then Dario called for the bell. Mysterio took out Matanza to begin the match. Matanza caught Rey on the outside then tossed him several times into the barricade. Matanza beat down Rey in the ring then tossed him to the outside. Matanza rammed Rey into the announce table then back into the ring. Rey fought back on the turnbuckle and hit a sunset flip from the top. Rey followed up with a seeded senton and a DDT. Matanza came back with a big boot then grabbed a chair from under the ring. Rey dodged the chair attack then drop kicked the chair into Matanza’s mask. Rey lodged the chair in between the ropes. Rey tossed him into the chair then hit a 619. As Rey came for a springboard attack, Matanza tossed the chair at Rey. Matanza tossed Rey around the ring then hit the wrath of the gods. Rey tried to get his leg on the bottom rope, but Dario moved it allowing for Matanza to get the win.

WINNER:  Matanza at 11:17.

Post match: Matanza hit Rey with another wrath of the gods onto a chair. Matanza then put the chair around Rey’s neck then tossed him into the ring post. Matanza followed Dario out of the temple with Rey on his shoulder to close out the show.

FINAL THOUGHTS: This episode left a lot to be desired with it being the 100th episode. That being said, it was a good primer or Ultima Lucha because it made you want to see the culmination o all the big feuds.
