12/27 WWE in Detroit, Mich.: Babyface works as a heel, and most popular wrestler today works on heel team, Styles vs. Jinder in cage

DETROIT, MICH.
REPORT BY GRANT, PWTORCH CORRESPONDENT

(1) The Usos beat Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable in 10:00 to retain the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Titles. Very good match. Usos won via super kick and splash combination.

(2) Sin Cara beat Tye Dillinger. Dillinger worked as a heel. Very short match, maybe two minutes.

(3) The Riott Squad beat Naomi & Becky Lynch via roll-up after a distraction from Ruby Riot.

A Fashion Files segment took place.

(4) The Bludgeon Brothers beat Breezango in about five minutes. Very similar to the last TV match. Basically a squash match but with Breezango getting in a little more offense than on Smackdown. Bludgeon Brothers won via powerbomb.

(5) Bobby Roode & Shinsuke Nakamura & Randy Orton beat Baron Corbin & Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens in 12:00. It ended when Orton pinned Sami after an RKO.

(6) Mojo Rawley & Rusev & Aiden English beat The Ascension & Zack Ryder when Mojo pinned Ryder. The initial reaction for Rusev was mixed, but a very big “Rusev Day” chant broke out as soon as he got to the ring.

(7) Charlotte beat Natayla and Carmella and Charlotte Flair in 12:00. Charlotte won via submission.

(8) A.J. Styles beat Jinder Mahal in a cage match to retain the WWE Championship in 17:00 by escaping the cage.

Merchandise Stand Notes: A lot of the older shirts were for sale. A.J.s first shirt was there the last John Cena shirt before the new one. The only new designs were the Randy Orton shirt and the new A.J. shirt. The only Raww brand shirt they had was The Shield. The building was about 70 percent full very similar attendance to Hell in a cell but way more kids then when they had that PPV.
