WWE Mixed Match Challenge brackets released, added twist in tournament (w/Keller’s Analysis)

By Wade Keller, editor

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

WWE has announced the brackets for the Mixed Match Challenge. The brackets include a chance for fans to vote a losing team back into the tournament to be part of the semi-finals.

-WEEK 1: Finn Balor & Sasha Banks vs. Shinsuke Nakamura & Natala
-WEEL 2: The Miz & Asuka vs. Big E & Carmella

-WEEK 3: Braun Strowman & Alexa Bliss vs. Sami Zayn & Becky Lynch
-WEEK 4: Goldust & Alicia Fox vs. Jimmy Uso & Naomi

-WEEK 5: Elias & Bayley vs. Rusev & Lana
-WEEK 6: Apollo Crews & Nia Jax vs. Bobby Roode & Charlotte Flair

So the winners of Week 1 and Week 2 faces off against the winners of Week 3 and Week 4, and the winners of Week 5 and Week 6 face the team the fans vote back in.

The brackets are set up to have wrestlers from Raw face wrestlers from Smackdown.

The show premiers Jan. 16.

The match taped on Smackdown this week appeared to be a qualification match. You can see results of that in our HOLT report here: 2/9 WWE Smackdown HOLT Report: What happened off-air, Mixed Match Challenge taping, crowd reactions, attendance

Keller’s Analysis: Looking at the brackets, my total guess on the finals would be Roode & Charlotte vs. Miz & Asuka. My hunch is if Strowman & Bliss lose, they’ll be voted back in, with Rusev & Lana also in the running. It’s difficult to predict since WWE might be planning a couple angles that would work their way onto the main shows, such as perhaps a heel turn by Roode.
