NEWS ITEMS: New WWE partnership, Matt Sydal vs. Strickland headlines indy show, IC Title match announced for South Africa

-WWE announced The Miz vs. Roman Reigns for the Intercontinental Title to the three shows in South Africa this April. It’s the only confirmed match for any of the events so far. [Thanks to PWTorch VIP members Christo Hattingh of Johannesburg, South Africa]

-WWE announced today via press release that it has partnered with LIDS. This new licensing agreement allowed LIDS to embroider the names, logos, and autographs of WWE wrestlers on WWE-licensed headwear within its stores and online. “The passion that runs through the veins of WWE fans is indisputable, so we are thrilled to be able to further connect with this fanbase by offering them a new way to demonstrate support for their favorite Superstars and Legends,” said David Baxter, president and CEO of LIDS Sports Group. “Customization is an important aspect to our brand, and we hope to continue the expansion of our WWE customization offerings in ways that take customers’ fandom to the next level.”

-Last Friday, Feb. 2 in Seattle, Wash. at Washington Hall in front of a sold out crowd of 700, a DEFY wrestling event headlined with Matt Sydal (former WWE wrestler Evan Bourne) vs. Shane Strickland. Strickland retained his DEFY Title. Also, Brody King beat ACH, Ravenous Randy Myers beat “Bad Boy” Joey Janela, Lucha Bros. (Penta oM & Rey Fenix) beat Amerikan Gunz (Mike Santago & Ethan HD), Nicole Matthews beat Hawlee Layne, Artemis Spencer won a ten-man DEFY to SURVIVE elimination match over King Khash, Cody Chhun, Sonico, Carl Randers, Big Jack, Guillermo Rosas, Clark Connors, Kaine Jaiden, and Nick Radford, and in the opener SCHAFF beat Dave Turner.
