I was at the Odessa Coliseum for the Smackdown house show. The arena was about three-fourths full. What was funny was that Aiden English was walking through the concession area before the show began. No one seemed to care. That man can use some sun! Here are the matches…

(1) Bobby Roode beat Baron Corbin and Jinder Mahal (w/Samil Singh). Lots of cheers for Roode and good heel heat for Mahal. Nothing for Corbin. Roode won with his finisher.

(2) Breezango & Zack Ryder defeated Mojo & Mike Kanellis & Epico. Breezango and Ryder won. Nothing special. Charles Robinson (lil Naitch) was the ref. He must have forgotten his blond coloring since he was completely grey.

(3) Dolph Ziggler beat Sin Cara. Dueling Ziggler chants at first. Real good match with lots of near falls. Ziggler turned the crowd against him. Sin Cara is quite the high flyer. Ziggler won with the Zig Zag.

(4) The Usos beat Aiden English & Rusev and Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable to retain the WWE Tag Team Titles. Lots of “Rusev Day” and “Usos” chants. This was the worst match of the night. Very slow and plodding.

(5) The Bludgeon Brothers beat The Ascension. Guess who won? If you guessed the Bludgeon Brothers, you would be right. Squash match that lasted maybe a minute. The Ascension didn’t earn their pay in this match!

(6a) Charlotte beat Ruby Riott (w/Riott Squad). After a few minutes Charlotte got the figure-four on Ruby; then the rest of the Riott Squad interfered. Shocking, right? Becky and Naomi made the save, then it became a six women tag match.

(6b) Charlotte & Naomi & Becky Lynch beat Riott Squad when Charlotte put the Figure-Eight on Ruby. Charlotte was a big hit with the crowd.

(7) Randy Orton & Shinsuke Nakamura beat Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn. Lots of cheers for the faces. It was called an “Odessa Street fight.” Well… since I didn’t see any guns or knives, it wasn’t really an “Odessa Street fight.” But there was the usual montage of chairs, a table, and of course a Kendo stick. The faces won as Orton RKO’d Sami and then held him up for Nakamura’s kinshasa. Fun match and everyone went home happy.

-Biggest heat: Mahal and the team of KO and Sami
-Biggest cheers: Charlotte and the team of Orton and Nakamura.
-Best match: Tie between Sin Cara/Ziggler and the Main event.
-Worst match: The tag team triple threat championship match (by a long shot).
