SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

-Last night on Mixed Match Challenge, Bobby Roode teamed with substitute partner Becky Lynch to defeat Finn Balor & Sasha Banks. Charlotte missed Smackdown and Mixed Match Challenge last night, and scheduled house show appearances over the weekend, due to a mouth infection that required dental surgery. The victory by Roode’s team means Charlotte would wrestle Asuka next week in the Mixed Match Challenge finals next week in the tag match against Miz & Asuka. It’s an interesting booking choice by WWE to have Asuka and Charlotte have interaction in the ring in an official match just days before WrestleMania. That is assuming Charlotte is medically cleared by then and there are no complications from her dental surgery. -WWE announced last night at the Smackdown TV event in Pittsburgh, Pa. that Extreme Rules is coming to Pittsburgh on July 15.

-In a dark match before Smackdown began last night, Tye Dillinger & Zack Ryder beat Mike Kannellis & Mojo Rawley. In the main event, A.J. Styles & The Usos beat Baron Corbin & Rusev & Aiden English. The original advertised match to help sell tickets to the event included Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens. The floor was full, the lower bowl was mostly full, the upper deck partially full at Smackdown last night.
