WWE SMACKDOWN HOLT REPORT
APRIL 24, 2018
LOUISVILLE, KY.
REPORT BY WES G., PWTORCH CORRESPONDENT

IN-ARENA NOTES

-The arena wasn’t quite full. They had the top deck tarped off, the lower bowl was 95 percent full.

-The crowd was engaged and enthusiastic throughout the show. That’s typical of Louisville.

-The crowd wasn’t sure how to react to The Miz and Big Cass at first. I think people were taking a wait and see attitude with Cass, and he won me over. Even if we weren’t interested at the beginning, he sucked us in really fast.

-Daniel Bryan didn’t appear in front of the crowd. I was most excited to see Bryan, Samoa Joe, and Andrade Cien Almas, and we didn’t get any of those three. The biggest face and biggest heel weren’t on the show, and I still felt good about the show. That said, we were ready to do the “Yes!” chant and never got to let loose.

-I am a big Jeff Hardy fan, and he might have gotten the biggest pop of the night.

-What I’ll probably remember most about this event was seeing Big Cass’s breakout promo tonight.

-When Smackdown ended, about 70 percent of the crowd stuck around for 205 Live, although that dwindled over time.

-The crowd wasn’t able to sing along with Shinsuke Nakamura’s new music. They wanted to, but the remix just doesn’t allow for it, so it’s effective in that way.

-Mustafa Ali got the most crowd response tonight among the 205 Live wrestlers.

POST-TV DARK MAIN EVENT

(1) Jeff Hardy beat The Miz to retain the U.S. Title in about 7:00

-WWE had advertised A.J. Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura and Carmella vs. Charlotte with each respective title on the line in radio ads. Neither took place and no explanation was given to the paying audience who might have bought tickets based on those matches being advertised.
