-Excalibur introduced the show as they showed the inside of the arena as pyro blasted. Excalibur said it’s the biggest time of the year for AEW. They went to Excalibur and Tony Schiavone on camera as they hyped All In.
-Will Ospreay made his way to the ring to his music. He spoke to the Glasgow crowd about how the last time he was there, he was talking about his injury. He then talked about his history there. He was amped up. He talked about other great athletes. He mentioned Kenny Omega, which drew some boos, but then a noticeable but soft “Kenny!” chant. Ospreay said he had nothing but respect for Omega until he mentioned his son. He got intense and said the stadium is going to be left with memories of a lifetime. “You don’t want to f–– around with a man who is looking after a boy!” Fans cheered. He said he was fired up. He said a debt needs to be paid. Fans chanted, “F— him up, Ospreay, f— him up!” He brought up his dad, his wife, and his son and said, “It is time to bring it home!” He said heroes are ordinary people who can do extraordinary things. He got the crowd to change as he finished and threw the mic in the air as his music played.
(Keller’s Analysis: Ospreay carried himself really well there and hit a nice intense emotional cresendo. I like that he didn’t overstay his welcome, especially doing some localized talk. He looked like a centerpiece babyface alpha star there.)
-Excalibur talked about Omega vs. Ospreay. He said it’s arguably the highest stakes match-up of either wrestler’s career.
(1) JON MOXLEY vs. CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI – Continental. Challenge Cup tournament semi-final
Moxley made his way to the ring from backstage where he was hanging out with Pac, Danny Garcia, Wheeler Yuta, and Marina Shafir. Claudio then came from the same backstage area with the same Death Rider cohorts. Renee Paquette said from ringside it was impossible to get a word with either of them today, but Garcia told her that Claudio gave him one of the biggest beatings of his life last week. The bell rang 14 minutes into the hour. They felt each other out methodically at the start. They fought to the floor a few minutes in where Moxley applied a figure-four briefly. Claudio gave Mox a Claudio Swing with several revolutions before releasing Mox into the barricade. They cut to a double-box break at 4:00. [c/db]
Schiavone noted that Claudio was focused on Mox’s left arm. Mox made a comeback with a cutter. He set up a Death Rider, but Claudio took him down and applied a Fujiwara armbar. Claudio then applied a sleeper at 10:00 and swung him around before dropping to the mat. Excalibur said that wasn’t a usual move from Claudio. Mox countered into his own chinlock and then a cross armbreaker.
Claudio made a comeback and took over for a while. At 13:00, Mox was nearly counted out. Claudo delivered a Neutralizer for a very near fall. Claudio charged at Mox with a European Uppercut swing, but Mox dropped down to avoid it. Claudo then set up a move, but Mox countered with a Paradigm Shift for a one count. He followed with a running stomp and then a Death Rider for a believable near fall. Fans popped. Mox wrenched on the Bulldog Choke. Claudio stood, but hten. dropped and re-wrenched it. Claudio faded and the ref called for the bell.
WINNER: Moxley in 16:00.
(Keller’s Analysis: There were high expectations for this match and it delivered what you’d expect. If you went in thinking Claudio had a chance to win, they gave you moments to believe in. If you didn’t, they might have made you lose yourself in the action anyway.)
(@) ADAM COPELAND & THE YOUNG BUCKS vs. BRIAN CAGE & JAKE ROYLE & ROCKY ROMERO
Adam Copeland made his entrance to a nice ovation. Then the Bucks. Then the Don Callis Family. The bell rang 37 minutes into the hour. Fans chanted “F— Don Callis” briefly, minus the “F— Ice Too!” addition. Matt flipped onto Cage at ringside, but caught him and slammed him at ringside. They cut to a break with Excalibur almost saying “picture in picture” before stopping himself awkwardly. (It’s never actually been picture-in-picture, technically.) [c]
The heel trio were working over Copeland in the ring with the Bucks down at ringside. (The Bucks had little incentive to be available for a tag quickly.) Romero landed sliced bread for a near fall at 8:00. Nick Jackson set up Cage for a splash by Matt. They superkicked Cage off the ring apron. Rocky took the Bucks down, but celebrated. The Bucks superkicked him from behind. Copeland then landed his signature spear on Rocky for the win. Excalibur said those three worked well together as a unit.
WINNER: Copeland & The Bucks in 10:00.
(Keller’s Analysis: A fine six-man TV match. Was it more likely Mox would beat Claudio or that Rocky would take the pin int. his one?)
-Afterward, Christian Cage walked out with a mic in hand to his music. He said he doesn’t associate with people who are beneath him, and the Bucks as beneath him. He said they’ve been influential, but they’re far from legends like him and Copeland. He entered teh ring and Matt said they are legends and even named a match and a PPV after them. He asked if they ever named a company after them, though. Fans chanted, “Be Elite!” Matt said they accidentally superkicked him in the face last week. He said if Christian keeps running his mouth, it’ll happen again but it won’t be an accident. Christian kicked Matt in the crotch. Copeland speared Nick.
-As Willow Nightingale’s music played, Mercedes Mone attacked Willow backstage. She stomped on her hand and said she’s not smiling now. She said on Sunday, her smile will be gone for good. She threw the belt down and let out her odd “ha ha ha HA!” laugh and then left as Willow held her hand in pain. [c]
-Renee interviewed Callis and Mark Davis backstage. Callis said he is back from Croatia and is feeling refreshed. He said whoever wins the AEW World Title match will have a surprise waiting on the other side. He said Mark Davis has drawn a number and if that number is called, he’ll settle his score with Andrade and then roll through the Casino Gauntlet match and bring the World Title to the Don Callis Family. [c]
-Andrade’s music played, but then shifted to MJF’s theme. MJF walked out. He said it was great to be in “beautiful sunny Ireland,” then corrected himself to Scotland, but asked the difference is because the people are all alcoholic dork pieces of trash anyway. Fans booed. He said if they are wondering where Andrade was, he paid off a couple of men to “warm him up before Wembley.” He said he wasn’t there tonight. He said he is there for them, though, “your one true champion.”
