ECW house show results…
October 8, 2006 (matinee)
Baton Rouge, La. at the River Center
Report by Dennis Papaleo Jr., PWTorch.com correspondent

(1) Brad Armstrong beat Eric Perez. Short old school style match. Armstrong was calling the spots, teaching Eric Perez.

(2) Rodney Mack beat Balls Mahoney. Short match. Most in attendance didnt know or remember Mack, even though he is from Louisiana.

(3) Paul Heyman’s Personal Enforcers beat The FBI (Little Guido & Tony Mamaluke). Formula match. Lots of illegal switching by the Enforcer. Enforcer #1 used the baton on Mamaluke for the pin.

(4) Jazz beat Trinity. Not much to the match. Jazz got a decent pop for being announced as from New Orleans.

Matt Striker then came out and interrupted announcer Justin Roberts. Stryker said the only person in ECW that deserved to be in the same locker room, and the same shower with him, was Rene Dupree. They then ran down ECW, so Tommy Dreamer came out to defend ECW. Dreamer then called out for a partner so,

(5) Tommy Dreamer & The Sandman beat Matt Striker & Rene Dupree. Huge pop for The Sandman ,who came out through the crowd. After the match Dreamer & Sandman acknowledged that Baton Rouge used to be one of the old ECW stomping grounds, so they invited four women and about six guys to come into the ring and drink beer with them.

30 minute intermission.

(6) C.M. Punk beat Mike Knox (w/Kelly Kelly). Punk won by submission. Kelly kept staring at Punk, which angered Knox.

(7) Rob Van Dam beat Kevin Thorn (w/Ariel). Van Dam won with the Five-Star splash. Huge pop for Van Dam.

(8) Sabu beat Test. Extreme Rules match. Good pop for Sabu. A chair was used for most of the match. Sabu won when he pinned Test through a table. Sabu was bleeding from the nose and mouth, he may have broken his nose. The crowd was expecting Sabu vs. Big Show, since he is the champion.

After the match Justin Roberts announced that two local Mid South legends were sitting at the audio table. “White Lightning” Tim Horner & “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, who received a big pop

FINAL THOUGHTS: Small crowd with a lot of young kids. Maybe 1,000 people in the 7,000 seat Baton Rouge River Center. This definitely was the “new ECW” as they was no profanity or lewd gestures. The show was only 2 hours & 45 minutes, including the 30 minute intermission. The old school ECW fans in attendance were mad and disappointed, as ECW used to run Baton Rouge and New Orleans pretty regularly.
