SHOW SUMMARY: This installment of the PWTorch VIP Vault jumps back 18 years to the July 16, 2007 special episode where he looked back at the Jesse Ventura SummerSlam press conference from July 14, 1999 on the 9 year anniversary week of that big announcement of a sitting governor agreeing to be paid to be part of a WWF event. He was grilled by local media regarding his involvement as a sitting governor taking a paycheck from the WWF to endorse and participate in the SummerSlam event.
The press conference was held in Minneapolis, Minn. at Target Center, the site of Summerslam the following month. Others representing the WWF present were Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon, Jim Ross, Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H, Sean “X-Pac” Waltman, and Debra. Ventura was asked questions by reporters including Wade Keller, Jason Powell (then of PWTorch), Jeremy Borash (then of a local radio station), and local political reporters. The audio clip opens with a seven minute introduction by PWTorch editor Wade Keller setting the scene.
