[HOUR ONE]

-As they showed the exterior of the arena, Joe Tessitore introduced the show. He hyped that “the greatest of all-time John Cena” had an announcement. (It’s fine they say it, I suppose, but Cena is not on any measurement the Greatest of All-Time. Cena should honor his better colleagues and insist WWE stop saying that.) They showed The Vision assembled in a bar setting. They showed Chad Gable walking backstage. They showed Ethan Page getting off a subway and looking disgusted. They showed Tiffany Stratton and Chelsea Green outside the arena amongst fans cheering for them.

-Roman Reigns made his ring entrance. He slapped hands of little kids in the aisle reaching out for him. When he finally made it into the ring six minutes into the show, he raised his arm and pyro blasted. He said everyone wants The OTC”s attention, “but y’all are the only ones I want to pay attention to.” (That might be the nicest thing he’s ever said to a cheering crowd.) He said they have “the secondary champ Sami Zayn running his mouth last week” and then “the biggest haters of them all, the 946.” He said they whooped their assess in San Diego. Sami’s music played and he came out with his WWE Championship belt wrapped around his waist.

Sami told Roman he found it crazy he was out there wasting his breath talking about The 946 when they are just days away from a match against each other. Sami said he didn’t need to be in Fresno nor does he need to be there in Brooklyn, either. “You came and that’s fine,” he said. He said they should say what they have to say to each other out respect, family to family, champion to champion. Reigns made his facial expression and snickered at the framing of them as family and champions. Fans chanted, “OTC! OTC!” He said that confuses him because family don’t run their mouths about each other. He said the disrespect is confusing to him. He said the way he looks at it, the person who benefited the most from The Bloodline is Sami.

He said if they’re honest, if he didn’t bring him into The Bloodline, he wouldn’t even be part of the company anymore and therefore he certainly wouldn’t be a champion right now. He said he’s making millions of dollars in a single year due to him “You seem to have forgotten,” he said. “When I found you, you were just Johnny Knoxville’s little bitch doing Jackass kind of things, ya’ know.”

Sami said everybody remembers the match at WrestleMania 38. He said the match might seem like a joke to him, but everyone remembering it five years later means something. He said nobody remembers Roman’s match at WM38. “What was it, Roman vs. Brock Lesnar, part 6 of 12?” He said the most memorable moment for Roman is when he got hit by a chair and he swung it. He yelled, red-faced, that he’s not going to stand there “and get disrespected … and act like I’m not the goddamn WWE Champion! I earned it. Nobody is taking it away.” He said he deserves Roman’s undivided attention and he’ll get it one way or another.

Reigns said the only thing he deserves from him is “your welcome.” He said if he didn’t defeat Lesnar for the WWE Title, it wouldn’t exist and be around his waist now. Reigns said Sami just comes out there and whines and bitches and complains. “You sound like a little ho,” he said. He said this is his final week on the island of relevancy because after Crown Jewel, “ain’t no one gonna talk about you again.” He leaned in and told Sami, “Acknowledge me!” He then threw the mic down and left the ring to his music.

(Keller’s Analysis: You could read the script of that exchange without knowledge of who the two speakers were and be hard-pressed to take a definitive side for or against either. Sami has some sympathetic points, and Reigns can be off-putting with his demeanor, but overall the fans are strongly siding with Roman because of the larger context of Sami’s complaints and way of complaining. There’s enough history with them that they can pull on a lot of strings, which they did effectively there)

-They went to Tessitore and Wade Barrett at ringside. Tessitore said Gable has been an honorable champion. They threw to a video package on Gable. [c]

-Tessitore plugged the Crown Jewel streaming schedule on Saturday. (Still no explicit mention of Saudi Arabia or Riyadh.)

(1) CHAD GABLE vs. ETHAN PAGE – Intercontinental Title match

The bell rang 25 minutes into the hour. Gable took Ethan down at the bell and battered him with forearms. Tessitore noted tape on Gable’s shoulders. Ethan fired back with a elbows to Gable’s shoulder area. Ethan set up a suplex off the top rope. Gable elbowed out of it and clotheslined Ethan over the top rope. He winced, though, as they cut to a break. [c]

Ethan grounded Gable after the break. A graphic hyped Greyson Waller vs. CM Punk on Wednesday’s NXT show. Gable made a comeback and kicked away at Ethan’s leg and then took Ethan down with a Dragon Screw. Ethan yanked off the top turnbuckle. (I get that factors in!) Gable took Ethan down with an ankle lock. Ethan cried out in agony as he crawled to the bottom rope to force a break. Gable landed a top rope moonsault for a near fall. Ethan rolled to ringside.

Gable pursued Ethan. Ethan threw a charging Gable face-first into the ringside barricade. Ethan tossed Gable into the time keeper’s area as they cut to a break at 10:00. [c]

Back from the break, Gable overhead suplexed Gable off the top rope for a two count. Gable climbed to the top rope, but paused and winced as he grabbed at his shoulder, and then he leaped at Ethan. Ethan lifted his boots and draped his arm over Gable for a two count. Gable came back with a Chaos Theory for a two count at 15:00. Tessitore said Gable’s shoulder. injury is factoring in. Ethan landed a sudden Chaos Theory for a two count.

Gable took Ethan down with an anklelock. Ethan upkicked, but Gable held on. Ethan pulled himself into a corner and the ref forced a break. When Gable set up a move off the top rope, Ethan countered with a powerslam for a two count. When Gable applied an anklelock again, Ethan kicked Gable into the exposed turnbuckle and then hit an Egoplex for the win.

After the ref handed a smiling Ethan the belt, Ethan clutched his ankle in pain, still selling the effects of the anklelock. Pyro blasted.

WINNER: Ethan in 18:00 to capture the Intercontinental Title.

-Barrett commented on the chaos last week when Sami Zayn pinned Je’Von Evans and then The Vision attacking Je’Von afterward.

-They showed Je’Von, Penta, and Dragon Lee warming up in a ring backstage. [c]

-Tessitore plugged Waller vs. Punk for NXT on Wednesday. He said that Punk has to face Waller “before” he faces Kevin Owens on Friday on Smackdown. (Well, they’re taping Punk vs. Owens tonight, so if Punk gets injured, it’ll be hard to explain.)

-A vignette aired with The 946 talking. Royce said, “Loyalty over everything.” Then some soundbites with Solo Sikoa and more with Royce.

-Backstage, the Usos were cheering on Solo as Solo tied his laces in his boots. A smiling Roman walked in and said he wasn’t going anywhere until he was done, and he said, “Let’s get it done!” The Usos applauded. Jey said it’s like a backyard BBQ tonight.

-A clip aired from Smackdown last Friday that set up the six-woman tag match up next. [c]

-Tessitore plugged ticket launch for Royal Rumble.

[HOUR TWO]

(2) CHELSEA GREEN & TIFFANY STRATTON & IYO SKY vs. LIV MORGAN & RAQUEL RODRIGUEZ & ROXANNE PEREZ

The bell rang at the start of the hour. Liv took control of Chelsea early. Raquel tagged in, but Green slipped out of her grip and landed a dropkick. Green dove through the ropes and tackled Liv and Raquel. Sky then leaped off the top rope and landed a bodypress. They cut to a break at 3:00. [c]

Raquel took control after the break, but Iyo avoided an elbowdrop and then stomped on Raquel’s chest. Tiffany tagged in and rallied. She gave Liv an Alabama Slam and then a Swanton for a two count at 8:00. Green hot-tagged in and hit a string of moves against Perez.

Liv raked Tiffany’s eyes and tagged in Raquel. Raquel powerbombed Tiffany and went for a twisting swing-splash out of the corner, but Tiffany moved. Tiffany crawled over and hot-tagged in Green. Green hit Perez with a series of moves rapid-fire. Sky broke up the cover with a dropkick. When Green gave Perez an Unpretty Her and made the cover, Raquel yanked her out of the ring by her boot. Sky leaped at Raquel and sent her into the time keeper’s area. Liv then dropkicked TIffany at ringside. Green kicked LIv at ringside and threw her into the ring. Barrett noted they were the legal two.

Liv gave Green an Oblivion after a distraction by Perez on the ring apron.

WINNERS: Morgan & Raquel & Perez in 11:00.

(Keller’s Analysis: Chaotic closing sequences, with solid action for the most part otherwise with rapid-tags and non-stop action. Liv getting the pin here suggests a Green win at Crown Jewel.)

-They cut to The 946 backstage on stairs. Royce said they are one-on-one tonight.

-Tessitore plugged that John Cena was up next. [c]

-John Cena came out to his entrance theme wearing a “Rise Above Hate” t-shirt. (A political endorsement on the eve of critical, pivotal U.S. mid-term elections is forthcoming then?) Cena had a chat with Alicia Taylor, presumably to make sure she properly introduces him as “the greatest of all-time.”

He said tonight is big because they’re talking about the John Cena Classic. He said he’s got “three major announcements that will make history tonight here in Brooklyn.” He said on Dec. 14 “we’re going to Disney World.” He said there will be two Raws on the same night, with one from Perth and another hosting “The John Cena Classic.”
