11/2 WWE Smackdown HOLT Report: Two advertised main events don’t take place, what replaced it, plus Main Event taping, Dark Match, attendance notes

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

WWE Smackdown HOLT report
November 1, 2016
From Newark, N.J. at Prudential Center
Report by Mike Omansky, PWTorch correspondent

The following are Happenings Off Live TV from Smackdown on Tuesday night…

DARK MATCH

(A) Apollo Crews pinned Victor of The Ascension). Not much to this.

MAIN EVENT

(1) Jack Swagger beat Simon Gotch via ankle lock submission

(2) Heath Slater & Rhyno beat Tyler Breeze & Fandango in a good match, dominated by the faces. Rhyno won with The Gore.

POST-TV DARK MATCH

(1) Dolph Ziggler beat The Miz with a superkick to retain the Intercontinental Title. Okay match.

WWE had advertised for the last month on TV to help sell tickets Dean Ambrose vs. A.J. Styles and Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton. Neither match took place.

NOTES: Crowd size was decent. Lower levels were full, but not many in upper deck… They return May 15th. Will matches they advertise take place on that one?
