SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

WWE LIVE EVENT
DECEMBER 18, 2017
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. AT WESTCHESTER COUNTY CENTER
REPORT BY MIKE OMANSKY, PWTORCH CORRESPONDENT

Crowd: Full house – estimate 4800.

Very strong house show overall

(1) The Usos defeated Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable and The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods w/Big E) in a triple threat to retain the Smackdown Tag Team Titles. Challengers worked most of the match; Usos in for the last two minutes, pinning Gable with a dive off of the ropes.

(2) Shinsuke Nakamura beat Sami Zayn. Shinsuke won with a running kick and pin. Good back and forth match.

(3) Aiden English & Rusev beat Zack Ryder & Sin Cara when Rusev pinned Ryder with the Accolade. Decent match. English very funny with “Rusev Day.” Ryder had a flurry with Enligh before the tag to Rusev and his demise.

(4) Erick Rowan & Luke Harper & Epico & Primo defeated Tyler Breeze & Fandango & The Ascension. Once Harper and Rowan came in, it was over – they even tossed out their partners. Harper pinned Breeze after a double-team.

(5) Randy Orton beat Kevin Owens (w/Sami Zayn) with an RKO in 15:00. Best match of the night. Excellent work by Zayn at ringside to “help out.” In the end, Owens went for Pop-up Powerbomb, but Orton turned the attempt into an RKO.

(6) Charlotte beat Natalya with a Figure-Eight Submission in a lumberjack match in 10:00 to retain the Lumberjacks were Naomi, Carmella, Lana, Tamina, Riot Squad. Good match, a few lumberjack incidents.

(7) Dolph Ziggler beat Baron Corbin and Bobby Roode to retain the U.S. Title in a Triple Threat match. Roode got huge pop for his entrance. Conversely, no reaction to Ziggler when he entered – no boos, no cheers. In the end, Roode hit his Glorious DDT on Corbin, but Ziggler tossed him out of the ring and covered Corbin. Good match, also.

(8) A.J. Styles pinned Jinder Mahal (w/The Singh Brothers) after a Phenomenal Forearm to retain the WWE Title. Good match, loads of expected interference by Singhs. Crowd totally into Styles. Second best match of night.

QUICK TIPS FOR SENDING RESULTS

If you attend an arena event in future, either house shows or TV tapings, we encourage you to send us a report for publication. You can direct your reports to: pwtorch@pwtorch.com.

We accept reports in any format, but if it’s not much trouble, please format your report like you see above, with the matches numbered like this (1) , (2) , (3) , with the opening line of each match paragraph stating who beat whom (don’t just say Wrestler A vs. Wrestler beat with the result listed later; instead, state up front who won so those readers who don’t have time to read the entire report (i. e. their boss walks past their cubicle all the time looking beat their shoulder) can at least quickly assess the results.

Also, please list tag teams using the “&” symbol as opposed to stating “and. ” Reserve use of ” and” when listing results in a three-way or four-way match where there are no teams (i. e. ” Wrestler A beat Wrestler B and Wrestler C in a three-way match” ) so it is easy to differentiate a handicap match from a three-way match.
