SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

STARDOM TODA BOAT RACE
NOVEMBER 17, 2019
SAITAMA, JAPAN AT TODA BOAT RACE EVENT HALL

REPORT BY HARLEY R. PAGEOT, PWTORCH CONTRIBUTOR

Hina said it was a four-way and she wanted to come out on top. Rina said she’d do her best. Kamitani wanted to win with her shooting star press. Onozaki also believed that she’d win.

(1) LEO ONOZAKI vs. SAYA KAMITANI vs. RINA vs. HINA

Fellow Queen’s Quest members Onozaki and Hina shook hands with each other but everyone else blew off Kamitani’s request. QQ didn’t end up working together much and the twins went after each other like usual. Onozaki hit a bulldog on both twins at the same time. Kamitani dropkicked her from behind to dispose of Onozaki. She followed with a running shooting star press onto the sisters and pinned them both.

WINNER: Saya Kamitani in 3:16.

(Pageot’s Perspective: Kamitani picks up her first win in singles competition. The 13 year-olds can take dozens of losses at this point and none of it will matter once they grow up.)

-Hayter declared herself the #2 gaijin. Miyagi dubbed herself the #3 Japanese. Kid said their opponents won a gauntlet match last time so they wanted revenge.

(2) OEDO TAI (Artist Of Stardom Champion Andras Miyagi & Jamie Hayter) vs. STARS (Starlight Kid & Saya Iida)

There was no dissension between Miyagi and Hayter and Hayter picked up the win with an ushigoroshi to Iida.

WINNERS: Oedo Tai in 7:30.

-Oedo Tai cut their promo while walking down a hallway backstage in their matching camouflage uniforms. They pointed out that Martina was drunk already. Hazuki said it was weird not having Natsu Sumire with them. Kagetsu said they can’t stop gambling on the boat races.

(3) QUEEN’S QUEST (SWA World Champion & Future Of Stardom Champion Utami Hayashishita, Momo Watanabe, Bea Priestley, & AZM) vs. OEDO TAI (Artist Of Stardom Champion Kagetsu, Hazuki, Natsuko Tora, & Session Moth Martina)

There was of course a lot of Hazuki vs. AZM in this one, as is tradition. QQ hit a barrage of offense on Martina and nearly had it won but the rest of Oedo Tai broke up the pin. A couple seconds later the bell rang.

DECISION: Time limit draw in 7:46.

(Pageot’s Perspective: There’s no way it was a 7:45 time limit but hey, I timed it from the ring bell to start and ring bell to end and I checked my markings twice. Maybe it was an 8-minute limit and they just fudged it a bit early?)

-Kimura said they would kick butt as usual today. Nakano asked the rest of Stars if they bet. They said yes, aiming for a jackpot!

(4) STARS (World Of Stardom Champion Mayu Iwatani, Wonder Of Stardom Champion Arisa Hoshiki, Tam Nakano, & Saki Kashima) vs. TOKYO CYBER SQUAD (Hana Kimura, Zoe Lucas, & Goddess Of Stardom Champions Jungle Kyona & Konami)

Brazilian kick from Hoshiki to Konami at 8:00 but Kyona and Kimura made the save. She looked for a follow-up knee strike but took a release German suplex from Konami instead. They traded kicks and both went down. Both teams were reaching for tags but Hoshiki blew off her partners to hit a knee strike. The bell rang at the actual ten-minute mark.

DECISION: Time limit draw in 10:00.

-TCS left and Iwatani closed the show with Stars.

(Pageot’s Perspective: This was a fluff filler show, just a chance to do an exhibition-style event at the boat races and potentially reach make some new fans from first-time viewers. Our next shows are November 23 & 24 in Shinkiba, December 1 in Osaka, December 8 in Shinkiba, December 14 in Yokohama, and December 15 in Shinkiba again before closing out the year with the big Christmas Eve show in Korakuen Hall.)
