Cody Rhodes

SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

Just days after he made his return to the WWE at WrestleMania 38, Cody Rhodes is already a top merchandise seller with the company.

PWInsider is reporting that all of the Rhodes shirts that went on-sale during WrestleMania weekend sold out. The report indicates that the sellout figures include items at AT&T Stadium and the WWE Superstore at Axxess. WWE had three Cody Rhodes shirts available after his debut.

Rhodes returned as the surprise opponent for Seth Rollins at night one of WrestleMania 38 on Saturday April 2. This was his first WWE appearance since leaving the company in 2016. Outside of WWE, Rhodes worked with multiple independent promotions, Ring of Honor, and in New Japan Pro Wrestling. He was a leading figure in the largest independent wrestling event in history, All In, and was an EVP for Tony Khan in AEW. Rhodes left AEW earlier this year after he and Khan could not come to terms on a new contract.

Rhodes appeared at WrestleMania as The American Nightmare, the same gimmick he worked in AEW. Rhodes defeated Rollins after a back and forth match. He channeled his father, Dusty Rhodes, and used a bionic elbow before connecting with Cross Rhodes and making the cover for the win.

Rhodes opened the post-WrestleMania edition of Monday Night Raw with a promo and declared the WWE Championship as his single focus and reason for being back in the WWE fold. He was interrupted by Seth Rollins, who walked to the ring and coyly shook his hand.

Rhodes will be with WWE for the next few years, having signed a multi-year agreement with the company.
