Exclusive: JCW Lunacy co-owner Violent J says “We (ICP) were just so happy” to appear on AEW TV, discusses conversations backstage with AEW COO Tony Khan

Violent J said he had a couple of quick, but great interactions backstage with AEW COO Tony Khan when ICP appeared on Dynamite and Collision last week. “We had what I call 100 mile an hour conversation (at Dynamite),” said J during an exclusive interview on Radican Worldwide available now for PWTorch VIP members. “Because he came out, apparently they were adjusting the show or doing something right up until the moment, you know what I mean? Probably 10 people told me they wanted, he wanted to talk to us before they went on the air, you know what I mean?

“And so we were kinda waiting around, and finally it got so close to time that he literally came running out, and, you know, he came up to us, he hugged us, he thanked us, and we had, like, a, a 100 mile an hour conversation, you know what I mean?

“He put over JCW. He put us (ICP) over. He, you know, he called us legends in Detroit and everything, and he’s just really great, you know? And then he had to turn around and run on stage, you know what I mean? And when he came back from the stage, he jumped right behind the table and put the headset on.”

J said he had a longer conversation with Khan when ICP appeared on Collision. “So, you know, I think I had more of a conversation with him the second night (at Collision) when, um, they were in a commercial break or something and he had his headphones pulled off, and I went up to him and I thanked him, you know? I said, ‘Man, hey, thank you for all of this, brother. This was so great, man.’”

J said it meant a lot for them to appear on Collision because AEW was the last major U.S. company they hadn’t worked for having already worked for WWE, WCW, ECW, TNA, NWA, and ROH. “And we probably talked for, like, a, a minute and a half, two minutes,” said J. “And that’s really all I needed. I just wanted to thank him for the post. I wanted to thank him for having us, ’cause it meant so much to us, ’cause that was the one place we hadn’t been. You know what I mean?”

J said that ICP has no intentions of working for AEW, so they were thrilled to just appear on Collision and take part in the Ice Bucket Challenge with The Conglomeration of Kyle O’Reilly, Orange Cassidy, and Roderick Strong to support Rebel (Tanea Brooks) and raise awareness and money for ALS. “And I got a chance to thank him like that’s really all I wanted to say,” said J. “I didn’t wanna take up his time or anything, you know what I mean? We’re not looking for a job there or anything like that, you know what I mean? We just wanted to do exactly what we did, you know what I mean?

“And we’re not able to really get in the ring and do anything impressive like that anymore, you know what I mean? So, we wanted to do sort of exactly what we did, you know what I mean? And we were just so elated. We were just so happy, man that we got to do it, you know? So, I thanked him and told him how much it meant to us and everything, and he was really cool about it. We hugged again, you know? And then, and then he went back to work. You know what I mean?”
