WWF House Show Report
September 22, 2001
Reading, Pa. at the Sovereign Center
Report by Jim Rhoades, PWTorch contributor
The ring announcer introduced himself and announced that Undertaker and Ivory would not be at the show due to transportation problems.
(1) Raven (w/Terri) beat Perry Saturn when Terri distracted Saturn. After the match, Saturn grabbed Terri and spanked her.
(2) Test beat Kanyon. Before the match, the wrestlers walked to the ring together for a promo. Test took the mic and bashed the crown, saying he felt like he was in “Uglyville.” The duo started to call out the APA, but began arguing with one another before they got around to it. The bickering started when Kanyon asked, “Who better than Kanyon?” and Test interrupted to say that he is. Kanyon responded by saying the only thing Test is good at is kissing Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley’s ass. In the end, Test caught Kanyon with the Big Boot for the win.
(3) Lita beat Molly Holly with a twisting sidearm DDT. Lita received a good reaction.
(4) Bradshaw beat Justin Credible with the Clothesline from Hell.
(5) Tajiri beat Rhyno by DQ to retain the WCW U.S. Title. There were a few highspots, but the match was long and slow for the most part. In the end, Rhyno hit Tajiri with the title belt for the DQ. After the match, the ring announcer hyped that the WCW Tag Title match would be held next. The fans were confused as he had previously announced that Undertaker would not be at the show.
(6) Kane & Albert beat Kronik (w/Steven Richards) to retain the WCW Tag Titles. Kane won the match after chokeslamming one member of Kronik. After the match, Albert disappeared quickly while Kane played to the crowd in the ring.
(7) Edge beat Christian to retain the WWF Intercontinental Title. Late in the match, Edge avoided Christian’s attempt at performing a Solo Conchairto. Moments later, Edge DDT’d Christian for the win.
(8) The Dudleys beat Hurricane & Lance Storm and The Hardys and Big Show & Spike Dudley in a four-way elimination tag to retain the WWF Tag Titles. Hurricane and Storm were the first team eliminated, followed by Show & Spike who were then eliminated. The match ended with a lame finish. Matt had D-Von pinned, but Bubba snuck in from behind, hit Matt, and rolled D-Von onto him for the win.
(9) Chris Jericho beat Rob Van Dam in a “special challenge match.” The crowd was split in cheering either “Y2J” or “RVD.” The match featured its share of confusing moments for the wrestlers. At one point, Van Dam was supposed to spring off the ropes and kick Jericho, but he slipped. Later, Van Dam missed the Frogsplash, which led to Jericho scoring the pin.
