Andy “The Butcher” Williams dead at 48

Andy “The Butcher” Williams is dead at age 48.

Williams collapsed following his match at Enjoy Wrestling Saturday night. He was teaming with The Blade (Jesse Guilmette) against TME in Millvale, Penn.

Enjoy Wrestling posted the following statement about the incident on their X account: “Andy collapsed at the end of his match this evening. Our doctors on staff tended to him immediately, administering CPR until the ambulance arrived. We sent everyone home and are at the hospital now waiting for more information. Thanks to everyone who helped and has reached out.”

The rest of the show was cancelled after Williams was taken to the hospital by ambulance. PWTorch analyst Rich Fann was at the show and noted that Enjoy Wrestling had paramedics on the scene to attend to Williams on his BlueSky account.

The Butcher & The Blade had their respective AEW contracts expire in June and the team had hit the independent circuit again together in recent months. They had been under contract to AEW since 2019 with their last in-ring appearance in AEW taking place in January 2024.

Williams was also musician. He was the founding guitarist for Every Time I Die in 1998. The ground disbanded in 2021. He formed another band called Atomic Rule in 2023 and they released their first EP last September.

Williams’s death on Sunday was first confirmed by TMZ.

AEW wrote: All Elite Wrestling is saddened to learn of the passing of Andy Williams, aka The Butcher. A trailblazing musician with ETID and Atomic Rule, Williams made a successful transition into the world of professional wrestling and was incredibly respected by his peers both in and out of the ring.  Our condolences go out to Williams’ family, friends and fans.

GCW owner Brett Lauderdale wrote: “The western ny wrestling family will mourn another devastating loss today Not many were as universally loved as andy, he will be missed & remembered Rest in peace and god bless you andy williams.”

Beyond Wrestling wrote: “We join the wrestling world, the music world, and the entire world in mourning the loss of Andy “The Butcher” Williams. You can’t say a bad thing about the guy. Positive, upbeat, funny, motivating, generous. Just a kind soul. Rest in peace.”

Bryce Remsburg wrote: “Andy Williams was consistently in rooms full of cool and interesting people. And even so, Andy was consistently the most cool and interesting person in a room. Effortlessly. He made you feel cool and interesting just by talking to you. His smile could light up a stadium.”
