NXT on a three month streak of increased viewership, a look at NXT’s monthly averages in 2026, comparisons to Dynamite average monthly viewership

NXT viewership (live + same night delayed viewing) jumped to 768,000 last Tuesday (9/1), up from 632,000, 683,000, 589,00, and 649,000 the prior three weeks. This jump could be an early sign of pro wrestling viewership benefiting from a change in how Nielsen Media is tabulating ratings as of Sept. 1.

The Hollywood Reporter downplayed the likely impact in the measurement change, though, in an article published last month: “Data for clients and publicly released numbers aren’t likely to change significantly, but Nielsen is touting a product that will be more accurate.”

There was some chatter that the change could affect pro wrestling more than other genres, though. AEW Dynamite didn’t experience a similar jump, for the Sept. 2 episode, which was actually down a bit from the prior week before the Nielsen measurement change, but a larger sample size in coming weeks should create a more clear picture.

Here’s a look at the monthly averages for NXT on The CW this year. Due to changes in Nielsen’s measurement methods in late January 2026 and September 2025, comparisons to prior years isn’t particularly relevant, but changes month to month, especially relative to changes in AEW Collision, AEW Dynamite, and WWE Smackdown remain relevant is measuring which company or show has momentum and or is perhaps turning off viewers.

• June: 595,000
• May: 557,000
• April: 580,000
• March: 577,000
• Feburary: 650,000
• January: 632,000

While NXT viewership on average has gone up the last three months, by comparisons, AEW dropped from March to April, April to May, and May to June before an increase in July but then a drop in August. AEW Dynamite remains ahead in terms of viewership on TBS compared to NXT on The CW, although AEW Dynamite streams live and on demand on HBO Max with an unspecified number of viewers.

This summer, AEW Dynamite led NXT in viewership on TBS vs. The CW by 20,450 in June, 67,000 in July, and 45,000 in August, for an average of around 50,000. The lead is likely greater if non-public HBO Max viewership was added to Dynamite’s total.
