SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

C.M. Punk says he has suffered from vertigo as a result of a fractured skull.

Punk’s injury was discussed by current AEW commentator Bryan Danielson (Daniel Bryan in WWE), who was Punk’s opponent when he suffered the injury. Punk suffered the injury during their first ever meeting and match at Jersey J-Cup in 2002. “He fractured his skull,” Danielson said in an interview with WWE.com. “He had to go to the hospital, and that was the first time I ever met him.”

sPunk revealed that he wrestled for 12 minutes after sustaining the injury during his first match with Danielson. “I thought I broke my neck at the time,” said Punk during a 2009 interview with SkySports. “I was iving a guy a neckbreaker and his head wound up on top of mine and everything just sandwiched and hit the mat at the same time and my head was turned. It felt like somebody took a pot of warm water and poured it inside my brain. Everything got hot so I thought I broke my neck. I still had feelings so like a knucklehead I continued to wrestle for 12 more minutes.”

“I have had my fair share, Punk said while appearing on Netflix’s “Hot Ones: Extra Heat.” “I fractured my skull once. This is the one that reoccurs every once in a while, because after I fractured my skull, I developed vertigo really bad. Also, one I haven’t really talked about too much, because you talk about that and people kind of look at you, like the doctors, they’ll be like, ‘Hmm.’”

Punk revealed how the accident has effected him due to the damage to the bones that control his equilibrium  “But what happened was I fractured my skull and there are some bones in your inner ear that help with equilibrium,” said Punk. “And those kind of basically were like dice inside a cup and got rattled around and thrown around. Sosometimes those still get knocked loose, and if I lay down and look straight up, the world spins.

“So, there’s been a lot of matches that you see that a lot of people are impressed with where I’m full-on going through a bout of vertigo and I don’t know what’s going on.”
