SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...
SHOW SUMMARY: In our latest episode of Alan4L’s ProWres Paradise, PWTorch columnist Alan4L is joined by a returning Eddie Sideburns for the October edition of “What’s on the Telly?” In this monthly series, Alan and his guest will each pick an episode of wrestling TV from that month in the past and break it down. For the second month in a row, it’s 1983 and 1991 on the docket, and we get a real mix this time around. The stars of Jim Crockett Promotions are on the road to Starrcade ’83 “A Flare for the Gold” and we’re treated to some excellent pro wrestling as a result. Super promos from some of the finest talkers of the day, an electric six-man tag with Ric Flair coming for Dick Slater with a vengeance, disguises, turns, squashes, board meetings…this had it all! Sadly, the same can’t be said for what was on offer in “The Global Dome” eight years later. For what the GWF lacked in…ahem…quality, it made up for with charm in abundance as Craig Johnson led us through an hour of ESPN’s flagship wrestling show of the day featuring some names you might know and some you absolutely won’t. There’s tag team chaos, earnest discussions about women’s place in wrestling, and more Sean Waltman than you can shake a stick at. So before you put on your Handsome Stranger mask to go out Trick Or Treatin’ this weekend, relax for a bit and check out what’s on the telly!
