(1) TOMASSO CIAMPA vs. MATT SYDAL (w/Christopher Daniels)
Ciampa’s music played and he made his entrance dressed as Kratos from the God of War games. They showed a replay of Ciampa attacking Andrade from the crowd. Matt Sydal’s music hit and the hometown guy got a decent pop as he made his way to the ring with Christopher Daniels. The bell rang to start the match three minutes into the show.
Sydal hit a standing moonsault early and went for the pin, but Ciampa kicked out at two. Ciampa rolled to ringside and Sydal hit a meteora from the apron onto Ciampa on the floor. Back in the ring, Sydal climbed to the top rope, but Ciampa rolled across the ring and back to the outside. WINNER: Tommaso Ciampa in 12:00
(White’s Take: Solid opener. To the surprise of everybody, the wrestler in a storyline leading to a PPV got the win while the guy who gets no TV time and is in a stable of perennial losers somehow came up short.)
-They showed a video of Swerve winning the world title at Dynasty in St. Louis two years ago.
(2) THE HURT SYNDICATE (Bobby Lashely & Shelton Benjamin w/MVP) vs. SOLOROTO (Aaron Solo & Nick Comoroto w/Griff Garrison)
The Hurt Syndicate’s music played as Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashely made their way to the ring alongside MVP. Their opponents, the team of Aaron Solo, Griff Garrison, and Nick Comoroto were already in the ring, sticking with their schtick of dressing like Brodido and Hangman, except it maybe makes sense this week, calendar-wise. The announcers noted that The Hurt Syndicate are on a six-match winning streak as their opponents attacked them before the bell rang 18 minutes into the hour.
Comoroto hit a splash on Lashley in the corner. Comoroto charged into a back elbow from Lashley. Lashley grabbed Solo and threw him into Comoroto before tagging in Shelton. Solo hit a few chops on Shelton, but he shrugged them off. Solo hit a spin kick to the gut and then botched an attempt at Bandido’s 21 Plex. Shelton took advantage with a pair of German suplexes.
Shelton kicked Comoroto off of the apron and Lashley hit him with a spear on the outside. MVP slid Garrison into the ring and Shelton gave him with a German suplex before Lahsely hit him with a spear. Shelton hit Solo with a high knee and Lashley added a spear for Solo as well. The crowd chanted “one more time,” so Shelton tagged Lashley in to give Solo another spear. Lashley posed on the ropes and then made the cover for the win.
WINNERS: The Hurt Syndicate in 4:00
(White’s Take: Maybe this is the best use of The Hurt Syndicate. The crowd still pops big for them, so just let them show up and toss around some dudes. Regardless of what MVP says on social media, perception is reality and anything they’ve tried to do with Shelton and Bobby outside of simple squash matches has been disappointing or comes to sudden, unexplained stop.)
-The Death Riders were backstage, and Gabe Kidd gave Clark Connors and David Finlay a mocking applause for their performance as friends before calling them bitches. Gabe said they’re down two men, and said he is going to gut them and hang them by their intestines. Moxley, much more calmly, said that if they understood his journey and that of the group, they wouldn’t say that the Death Riders are outnumbered. He said they’ve outnumbered the whole time. Marina said it hasn’t mattered, because the goal was to be something bigger than them. Marina said they chose to do the hard work and there is no man, woman, or army that will break their spirit. Yuta said they’ll show up with or without Claudio. Garcia said they may be outnumbered, but aren’t outmatched, and signed off with an “against the world.” [c]
(White’s Take: Everyone was fine in their portion of the promo, even Gabe Kidd wasn’t quite frothing at the mouth before some murderous threats. Moxley, of course, delivered a master class of a short, serious, captivating promo.)
-They showed a video of Persephone freaking out about losing her title after Dynamite. Persephone said there’s a spot on each Blood & Guts teams, and challenged Aminata to meet her in the match.
(3) TRIANGLE OF MADNESS (Thekla & Skye Blue & Julia Hart) vs. HAZUKI & KOGUMA & FUWA-CHAN – Artists of Stardom Championship match

Back from break, Koguma and Hazuka hit a double dive onto all three members on Triangle of Madness at ringside. Fuwa-Chan made the xover, but Hart broke up the pin.
Thekla hit Koguma and Hazuki with a double spear. Thekla climbed to the top rope and hit a crossbody onto all three women at ringside. Fuwa-Chan got a two-count with a magistral cradle. Hart spit mist in Fuwa-Chan’s eyes at Blue distracted the ref. Hart and Blue hit Fuwa-Chan with the assisted swinging uranage. Blue made the cover and got the win.
WINNERS: Triangle of Madness in 13:00
(White’s Take: The announcers tried to explain who the challengers were, but I don’t think we’ve seen any of them outside of Hazuki on AEW, and she’s only appeared a few times. I’m all for more women’s matches on AEW TV, but the roster is large enough with plenty of titles to fill some space on Collision without featuring wrestlers people don’t know trying to win titles no one cares about. Also, good action and fun match in spite of those complaints.)
-Joe was backstage with Hook and Shibata with a few words about perception. He said that The Opps were perceived as not to be messed with. Joe said that has changed, but that’s a failure of leadership, of who they let lead. He said the man that beat the TNT champion and tapped out the world champion is here. He said the perception of The Opps will change, or they’ll change the nature of the beast. [c]
(White’s Take: Joe do promo good. Concise, serious and giving his character and group direction. Promos like this and the earlier one from the Death Riders are the best parts of Collision.)
(4) THE BEAST MORTOS vs. ILJA DRAGUNOV
The Beast Mortos made his entrance before Dragunov’s music played and he made his way to the ring. Dragunov finished conducting and the bell rang to start the match 54 minutes into the hour.

WINNER: Ilja Dragunov in 11:00
(White’s Take: Dragunov continues to showcase what he’s really good at: snug offense, emotional fire, and selling. You could argue he shouldn’t be doing that last one so much against a guy who appears sporadically and wins rarely, but I like Mortos, so I can let it slide. Definitely looking forward to Dragunov tangling with Ciampa.)
Ciampa appeared at the top of the ramp to mock Dragunov’s conducting.
-The showed a replay of Nick Wayne’s celebration of beating Jericho. They added a post-produced video of Nick walking through Miami telling people about beating Jericho twice.
(5) DARIUS MARTIN (w/Christopher Daniels) vs. ”SPEEDBALL” MIKE BAILEY

WINNER: “Speedball” Mike Bailey in 10:00
(White’s Take: Has anyone that Christopher Daniels manages ever won a match? He was 0-for-2 tonight. Nice little showcase match for Speedball, aside from taking ten minutes to beat the Jannetty-half of a mostly forgotten tag team with a roll-up.)
-The showed a video of Ospreay addressing Kyle Fletcher, saying he has to make it through Blood & Guts before he gets a chance at the world title, where he’ll have two choices: submit or surrender.

The crowd chanted “Yabba Dabba Doo.” Kross and Bayne hit back-to-=back running boots on Leela in the corner. Kross and Bayne attempted the double chokeslam, but Nixi broke it up. They hit Nixi with a combination running boot and German suplex. Bayne and Kross hit the Divine Intervention double chokeslam, slamming Leela onto Nixi. Bayne pinned them both for the win.
WINNERS: Divine Dominion in 2:00
-Queen Aminata was backstage with Willow, Harley and Statlander. Willow introduced her team asking if their opponents were ready. Statlander questioned why they’re tagging with the Brawling birds, who aren’t present and are facing them for the women’s tag titles at Full Gear. Harley got excited asking again fi they’re ready before Aminata stepped in and said her team is ready to take their heads off.
(White’s Take: This was a better Blood & Guts promo from the face ladies than the one that aired last week that they also showed on Dynamite. Not fantastic at all, but Willow was slightly less syrupy and I appreciate that they’re continuing to tease issues with the Brawling Birds, being as they’re facing them next week.)
(7) ADAM PRIEST vs. KONOSUKE TAKESHITA
Adam Priest’s music hit and he made his way to the ring. Takeshita’s music played and he made his entrance as Schiavone noted that he has never been beaten in a singles match on Collision. The bell rang to start the match 28 minutes into the hour.

Takeshita rolled through a backslide and hit a running knee. Takeshita followed up with a rolling elbow and the Raging Fire. Takeshita held on for the pina dn the win.
WINNER: Konosuke Takeshita in 8:00
(White’s Take: I kept wondering what was taking Takeshita so long to beat Adam Priest, and then it only went eight minutes, so maybe that’s not a great sign? I like Priest, but I’m not sure what role he was playing here, other than the guy who loses to the bigger star. Takeshita looked good, as he often does, and it’s nice to see him back in the ring.)
Thekla was backstage saying all she sees is bitches. She said there is a real one to take them out. Persephone told Aminata she was going to beat her and take her title back. Sky eBlue added that she was smiling ear-to-ear covered in blood last year. Julia Hart said they made history last year. Bayne and Kross asked what they’re going to do when they’re locked in a cage with two monsters. Thekla signed off with,“One cage, two rings, three words: die, bitches, die.” [c]

The returned from commercial as Kyle hit Colten and Austin with kicks, but Austin landed a flying clothesline to cut off the comeback. Kyle hit Colten with a knee lift and both men fell to the mat. Kyle dove to make the tag, but Juice and Austin pulled Cassidy and Strong off the apron at the last moment.

Jay Whtie slid Juice a pair of brass knuckled and Juice blasted Kyle with the brass knuckles as the referee was distracted. Juice made the pin and got the win.
WINNERS: The Cut in 13:00
(White’s Take: We got the A team on Dynamite, so we get the B team on Collision, but still good to see The Cut picking up the win here, even in heel fashion, to establish them as a viable group moving forward. The match was good, highlighted by Strong’s often-frenetic pace, Kyle’s strikes and grappling, Cassidy going almost completely serious, The Gunns moving with purpose and selling their asses off, and Juice being very Juice.)
The Cut continued to beat down their opponents after the match. Juice hit Cassidy and Strong with the brass knuckles as well. Jay told Cassidy to stay out of their business. They stacked Cassidy, Strong, and Kyle in a pile and posed around them as they broadcast went off the air.
FINAL THOUGHTS: Wow, they crammed eight matches into this episode, with no overrun. Yet, the only real takeaways from this week’s Collision came in the form of the short promos interspersed through the show. All eight of the aforementioned matches had obvious winners and/or no stakes. The only exception as maybe the womens’ trios match, where I suppose the Stardom team could’ve won, but that is only permissible because the winner doesn’t really matter no one cares about the star-shaped trinkets that were on the line. The main event had similar issues, as The Cut had to win to avoid undercutting them a week after their debut as a group. The winner was also irrelevant, as both teams are heading towards an Anarchy in the Arena match next week either way. I guess it’s all about the mythical “momentum” I keep hear about. As usual, there was nothing advertised that would bring anyone new in to watch it, and it didn’t deliver anything of value that someone might miss by not watching it. In a word, it was Collision.
