SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

Tuesday night during Smackdown Live, A.J. Styles was scripted to take a dig at Alberto Del Rio that he’s not on the Summerslam card. It’s now official.

WWE announced Wednesday that Alberto Del Rio has violated the Wellness Policy and will be suspended for 30 days starting Thursday (August 18).

WWE’s announcement reads: “WWE has suspended Jose Rodriguez (Alberto Del Rio) for 30 days effective tomorrow, Thursday, Aug. 18, for his first violation of the company’s talent wellness policy.”

WWE booked Del Rio to put over top Smackdown babyfaces Randy Orton and John Cena in consecutive weeks on the August 9 and 16 Smackdown episodes.

Now, Del Rio will be missing Summerslam and the Smackdown brand “Backlash” PPVs on August 21 and September 11, respectively.
