SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

WWE announced Friday that WWE Network will be available in Germany starting in January 2016.

WWE timed the announcement to coincide with WWE touring Germany this weekend as part of the European Tour.

The official launch date is Tuesday, January 5. All new subscribers will receive the first month free, then pay $9.99 U.S. for the monthly service.

WWE is launching the English-language version of the Network in the German market, which financial executive George Barrios said is “a strategically important market for WWE.”

The Network will also be available in neighboring countries Austria, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein.

WWE management noted in their Third Quarter 2015 conference call two weeks ago that Germany will be an interesting case-study because fans in the region are not used to paying for this type of content. WWE is unsure how consumers will receive the Network, which is why they are trying to gather as much research as possible before launching in January.
