WWE Super Smackdown Live News & Notes 12/22

– Dean Ambrose retained the Intercontinental Title by defeating Dolph Ziggler and Kevin Owens in a three-way main event. Ambrose pinned Ziggler with Dirty Deeds after Ziggler took out Owens with a superkick.

– New Day retained the WWE Tag Titles over Lucha Dragons in the opening match.

– WWE World Hvt. champion Roman Reigns made a non-wrestling appearance during the show. After The Usos lost to the League of Nations, Reigns came down to ringside to help clear the heels from the ring.

– Santino Marella continued his Slammys Week run by appearing in Christmas-themed backstage skits before helping Titus O’Neil & Neville beat The Ascension.

– Tom Phillips did not call Smackdown after being written off TV via injury angle at the end of Monday’s Raw. Michael Cole called the show along with Booker T and Jerry Lawler.

WWE is set to introduce Mauro Ranallo as new Smackdown lead announcer in two weeks.

– The overall show was a prelude to Smackdown shifting to USA Network in two weeks on Thursday nights. Smackdown will replay this Thursday on Syfy, then the final Syfy edition of Smackdown will air on Thursday, December 31. Smackdown then moves to USA on Thursday, January 7.
