WWE announced Monday the first inductee into the 2016 WWE Hall of Fame, set for the annual HOF ceremony on April 2 in Dallas.

The inductee is former WCW Hvt. champion Sting (Steve Borden).

“We are truly honored to have Sting take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame,” said Triple H in Monday’s announcement.  “His contributions to our industry are unprecedented, and we look forward to celebrating his incredible career with fans all over the world.”

Sting resides in the Dallas area and will appeal to WCW enthusiasts who make up a portion of WWE’s current audience, especially in Texas.

The 2016 WWE HOF ceremony takes place on Saturday, Apr. 2 at the American Airlines Center at 6:30 p.m. local time. Tickets go on-sale this Friday (January 15).

    LOL, haven’t heard that in a long time. Now it’s stuck in my head! LOL!!

    Hated that song, but loved to watch Sting. Very underrated as a performer. Made WCW tolerable to watch until 1999-2000, and I don’t think ANYONE could’ve made the last two years tolerable. Finally someone who deserves to be in a real hall of fame, not some performers that are going in because they were Vince’s buddies or creations.

    Watched his son play football here at Kilgore College a couple of years ago. Good young man. Saw Steve in the crowd a few times, but never went to say hello. Got the feeling he wanted to just be a dad and be left alone. First class individual, first class performer.
