Former WWE star Trevor Murdoch is opening a new pro wrestling school in Kansas City.

The plan is to launch the “Kansas City Pro Wrestling Training Center” in February, making it available to pro wrestlers to “have a new place to learn and master their craft.”

Murdoch is partnering with K.C. native Derek McQuinn to run the school. Both were trained by Harley Race through the Harley Race Wrestling Academy.

“This is a dream come true for Derek and me. I want to pass on the knowledge I learned from Harley to not only teach new students, but help experienced wrestlers improve their fundamentals and skills,” Murdoch said in a press release.

The school is also working with K.C. promoter Chris Gough of Metro Pro Wrestling. The goal is to feed the promotion new stars to help build up the local wrestling scene.

In addition to training students to become professional wrestlers, the K.C. Pro Wrestling Training Center will offer a personalized fitness program.

“To my knowledge, there has never been a wrestling school until now that had or has a wrestling trainer with Trevor’s credentials and a certified personal trainer on-site. This is a win-win scenario for those looking to get into professional wrestling. Trevor will be hands on and in the ring and I will be there to develop a personalized fitness program for each trainee” McQuinn said.

Murdoch added: “Our goal is to create well-rounded performers. We have access to several wrestling personalities who will help our trainees take their talent to the next level. Not only are in-ring skills important, but teaching skills such as the elements of TV production and how to create and develop a persona will give our students the best chance to succeed in this industry.”

To build interest in the new school, Murdoch and McQuinn are launching a sweepstakes for one individual to receive six months of wrestling & fitness training for free. Entrants are required to send in a three-minute training video to qualify.
