New Japan made several announcements on Thursday before the start of the New Japan Cup.

– New Japan officially announced the signing of ROH wrestler Michael Elgin to a two-year deal.

– Shibata, the NEVER Openweight champion, has also signed a one-year deal with New Japan.

– The Super J-Cup tournament is returning on August 21. NJPW is partnering with several other promotions to bring top talent to the tournament.

– As part of New Japan trying to develop the next generation of stars, the promotion has launched a “Talent Finding Project” to help replenish the roster.
