WWE WrestleMania 32 News & Notes

– Roman Reigns closed WrestleMania 32 by winning the WWE World Title from Triple H in the main event. WWE attempted to mask a negative crowd reaction from the vocal fans with Reigns’s music and pyro closing the PPV broadcast.

– The Rock “wrestled” again, beating Erick Rowan of The Wyatt Family in a six-second match. This led to John Cena making his WWE TV return to help Rock fend off The Wyatts.

– The Undertaker beat Shane McMahon in a 30-minute Hell in a Cell match, keeping his WrestleMania career alive and ending Shane’s quest to take over control of Raw. Shane was carted out of the match to sell taking a giant bump off the top of the Cell through a table when Taker moved.

– “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, and Mick Foley (Cactus Jack) reunited for a nostalgia segment taking out the League of Nations after they beat New Day in a six-man tag match. King Barrett ended up taking a round of finishers before Xavier Woods of New Day took a Stunner from Austin for good measure.

– Sting was highlighted as the 2016 WWE Hall of Fame headliner. Sting came out on the stage dressed as Steve Borden without his signature facepaint. This included Howard Finkel continuing his streak of WrestleMania appearances introducing the HOF candidates.

– WWE retired the Divas Title and introduced a new WWE Women’s Title, which Charlotte won/retained by defeating Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks in a three-way match.

– Baron Corbin won the Andre the Giant battle royal in his main roster debut.

The battle royal also featured a surprise appearance by former NBA star Shaquille O’Neal. Plus, former stars Tatanka and Diamond Dallas Page.

– Chris Jericho beat A.J. Styles in his WrestleMania debut match to even their series at 2-2.

– Zack Ryder won the Intercontinental Title in a show-opening seven-way IC Title ladder match.

– Kalisto retained the U.S. Title over Ryback on the WrestleMania pre-show.

– Brie Bella won the 10-Divas tag match on the WM32 pre-show in what was apparently her final match based on a post from Daniel Bryan thanking her for her support during his difficult health time. Bryan said it’s now time to “work on that baby making!” The match also marked Lana’s in-ring debut.

  1. I thank that WWE ratings will continue to go down, since Shane did not get control. HHH is just looking to be a control figure. It is a time for a change in authority. He does not known how to book a good match and go for it. He builds up the program and then tears it down.It is all about him and his power. That is why I have never subscribed to WWE Network. I do not understand, why this was the largest WM32 ever. They still need to make some changes to keep people interested, before they fold.
