“Gypsy Joe” Funeral Info following death of legendary journeyman

Long-time pro wrestler “Gypsy Joe” Gilberto Melendez died at the age of 82 on Thursday, June 16.

Melendez was born in Puerto Rico and started wrestling in 1951, beginning a career that covered numerous decades and countries.

Melendez went through serious health issues in the final few years of life, including having his foot amputated in 2013.

According to his obituary, Melendez resided in Manchester, Tenn. when he died on Thursday at Centennial Medical Center.

The funeral is scheduled for Sunday (June 26) at the Heritage Funeral Home location in Columbia, Tenn.

Donations to help pay for his funeral costs are being accepted through the Heritage Funeral Home under the name Gilberto Melendez “Gypsy Joe.” (Thanks to Beau)
