New WWE Japan Tour line-ups – Ambrose to defend WWE Title, Nakamura vs. Jericho, Styles vs. Cena, no Flair

June 28 Update

WWE has released new line-ups for their tour of Japan this weekend following Roman Reigns’s suspension.

WWE also announced that Ric Flair will no longer be on the tour.

In addition to Dean Ambrose added to the tour, WWE announced Shinsuke Nakamura’s new opponent on Night 1 – Chris Jericho, replacing Bray Wyatt. Nakamura is still scheduled to face Kevin Owens on Night 2.

New July 1 Line-up – Tokyo, Japan

  • WWE World Title match: Dean Ambrose vs. Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins
  • A.J. Styles vs. John Cena
  • Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Chris Jericho
  • WWE Tag Title match: New Day vs. The Usos vs. The Vaudevillians vs. The Club (Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows)
  • WWE Women’s Title match: Charlotte vs. Natalya
  • NXT Women’s Title match: Asuka vs. Becky Lynch
  • Dolph Ziggler vs. Curtis Axel
  • Baron Corbin vs. Titus O’Neil

June 22 Update

WWE has officially pulled Roman Reigns, as well as the previously-injured Bray Wyatt, from their tour of Japan on July 1 and 2.

Replacing Reigns and Wyatt is new WWE World Hvt. champion Dean Ambrose, WWE announced Wednesday night U.S. time/Thursday on their Japanese website.

WWE will announce the new line-ups at a later date.

Reigns was scheduled to defend the WWE Title in Japan prior to dropping the title at Money in the Bank and then being suspended 30 days for a Wellness Policy violation.

The roster change affects the main events, plus Shinsuke Nakamura’s return matches in Japan. Nakamura was scheduled to face Bray Wyatt on Night 1.

June 9 Update

WWE has changed up the line-ups for their return tour of Japan on Friday, July 1 and Saturday, July 2.

Seth Rollins has been added to the mix, creating new matches on top. Notably, the WWE Title match of Roman Reigns vs. A.J. Styles vs. Kevin Owens on July 1 is now Reigns vs. Owens vs. Rollins vs. Chris Jericho.

Styles will now face John Cena on both nights.

Also, Shinsuke Nakamura is scheduled to face Bray Wyatt on July 1, only, and now Nakamura will face Kevin Owens on July 2.

Overall, the tour marks the returns of Styles, Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows, Nakamura, and NXT Women’s champion Asuka to Japan.

After being written off WWE TV, Ric Flair is still advertised for a special appearance.
