Backlash PPV betting final tally – oddsmakers accurately predict match results

Post-PPV Update: All of the (eventual) betting favorites won their matches Sunday night at Backlash.

Becky Lynch and Nikki Bella went back-and-forth as favorite and runner-up throughout Sunday evening until the PPV started.

Meanwhile, Miz finished as the favorite – how he opened – after Dolph Ziggler enjoyed a brief time as the favorite to win the match.

Sept. 11 Update: With Randy Orton now a late scratch for his match against Bray Wyatt, which is going to affect the PPV card, insider betting suddenly flipped on a different match.

The Miz is now the favorite in the IC Title match, flipping from +550 a -900 favorite. Dolph Ziggler went from the -1050 favorite to a +500 underdog.

And, Nikki Bella suddenly flipped to the favorite to win the Women’s Title at -215. Becky Lynch is now second-favorite at +175. And then she suddenly flipped back to the underdog, restoring Becky as the favorite.

Sept. 11 Update: The favorites have strengthened to likely winners Sunday night at Backlash. It remains to be seen if two title challengers end up winning titles or pick up DQ-like wins.

– A.J. Styles is now -1500 over WWE champion Dean Ambrose.

– Dolph Ziggler is now -1050 over IC champion The Miz.

– Becky Lynch is -1050 to win the Women’s Title match.

– Heath Slater & Rhyno are -1500 to win the Tag Title tournament.

– Randy Orton is -2000 over Bray Wyatt.

Sept. 10 Update: On the eve of Backlash, insider money has hit on specific matches, including a clear favorite to win the WWE Title match.

– A.J. Styles is now -900 over current WWE champion Dean Ambrose at +500. (It remains to be seen if Styles wins the WWE Title, with a potential DQ finish in-play.)

– Heath Slater & Rhyno’s odds to win the Tag Title tournament have increased to -400 versus The Field.

– Dolph Ziggler flipped from a solid underdog to a solid favorite at -600 to win the IC Title match against The Miz. (It remains to be seen if Ziggler wins the IC Title, with a potential DQ finish in-play.)

– Randy Orton strengthened to a -335 favorite over Bray Wyatt at +245.

– Becky Lynch strengthened to a -475 favorite to win the Women’s Title six-pack challenge.

Within the Women’s match, Nikki Bella has improved to the second favorite at +410 behind Becky.

September 8 Update

International oddsmakers have released initial betting lines on WWE’s Payback PPV.

The lines are strong indicators of match results, subject to change this weekend when final booking plans are made.

The big question mark is Dean Ambrose vs. A.J. Styles for the WWE World Title. Oddsmakers are not picking a favorite right now, settling on a toss-up.

The betting lines include…

– WWE World Title match: Ambrose is -105 to Styles at -135 in a toss-up.

– IC Title match: The Miz is a strong -600 favorite over Dolph Ziggler at +400.

– Randy Orton is a slight -170 favorite over Bray Wyatt at +115.

– Tag Title Finals: Heath Slater & Rhyno are slight -155 favorites over The Field (The Usos or Hype Bros.) at +115.

– Women’s Six-Pack for the Smackdown Women’s Title: Becky Lynch is the favorite. The break down includes:

  • Becky at +150
  • Natalya at +240
  • Nikki Bella at +350
  • Alexa Bliss at +375
  • Carmella at +925
  • Naomi at +925
