SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

On ESPNews tonight, Bill Goldberg did not confirm Jim Ross’s report earlier that he will be facing Brock Lesnar, perhaps as soon as at Survivor Series next month.

“It’s something I got to think about, man,” Goldberg said. “I really want to do it, but reality-wise, is it smart for me to do?” he asked, noting his advanced age. He said he might not decide until the end of the year. “If anybody can do it, it’s me,” he said. “I don’t know. Give me until the end of the year, for God’s sake.”

Goldberg reiterated what he has often said regarding his motivation to wrestle – so his wife and kids could see him wrestle in person, which they never have.

NOTE: I spoke with veteran wrestling reporter John Arezzi, who hosted the Pro Wrestling Spotlight radio show in the late 1980s through the mid-1990s in New York earlier today about the pros and cons of a Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar match. We began the show talking about it right away: CLICK HERE TO STREAM OR DOWNLOAD.

Keller’s Analysis: Goldberg was on the show to promote the new WWE Y2K17 videogame. This might seem like it douses the buzz-generating Tweets by Jim Ross, but I suspect there is fire creating this smoke, and the time-table just wasn’t right. If it’s not a done deal yet and Goldberg is genuinely not sure it’s the right decision, I credit his sanity. I’m sure a lot of money is being offered, but I also think as a father and husband, getting in the ring at age 49 (50 by the start of 2017), he’s right to be cautious.
