NXT LIVE EVENT REPORT
OCTOBER 6, 2017
MIAMI, FLA. AT UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI’S WATSCO CENTER
REPORT BY KY MORLAND, PWTORCH CORRESPONDENT

(1) Street Profits beat Riddick Moss & TIno Sabatelli after a top rope splash.

Axel Dieter Jr. came out and cut a quick promo on how Germany was better than the USA. He said his name was Marcel Barthel (his real name). He was interrupted by Oney Lorcan. Oney said these people want to see a fight, to which Barthel said he wasn’t going to fight but he knows someone who will, and out came Lars Sullivan.

(2) Lars Sullivan beat Oney Jordan. They had a hard-hitting match which Lars won after a Diving Headbutt.

(3) Ruby Riot beat Sonya Deville. Probably the best match of the night. Sonya tried to ground Ruby for the whole match with repeated ankle locks. Crowd was very into Ruby, and they went nuts when Sonya took her MMA gloves off and threw them to the ground. Ruby won with a Senton off the top rope.

(4) Heavy Machinery beat Steve Cutler & Wesley Blake. This was a fun match. Heavy Machinery were extremely over the top stomping around and hyping each other up. Dosovic did the worm mid-match and the crowd went nuts. Cutler and Blake looked good and will hopefully be on TV soon. Heavy Machinery win with the double splash.

The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole & Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly, “CFO”) jumped Heavy Machinery after the match with O’Reilly and Fish putting HM in chokeholds while Cole cut a promo. He said how this is the Undisputed Era and everyone was on notice. Lots of BayBay chants. It’s very cool to see these guys in NXT and you can feel that they’re a huge part of the show.

(5) Velveteen Dream beat Roderick Strong. Not the best match of the night. Pretty straight forward. Velveteen wins with the Elbow Drop off the top rope

Intermission

(6) No Way Jose beat Kona Reeves. Kona had quite possibly the worst haircut I’ve ever seen. Played up the heel roll pretty well yelling at the crowd. No Way set Kona up for the People’s Elbow and the crowd was getting amped. He threw up the “U” sign and everyone went nuts. Giving a shout out to The Rock. Kona caught him and he didn’t hit the elbow, more heat on Kona.

(7) Ember Moon beat Mandy Rose. The crowd was very into this match. Good back and forth. Mandy is a star. Trish Stratus vibes. Ember won with a super kick. I was bummed we didn’t get to see that top rope stunner, but basically every match ended with a top rope move, so hopefully she still does it.

(8) The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole & Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly, “CFO”) beat Drew McIntye & Kassius Ohno & Johnny Gargano. CFO came out to a lot of boos but everyone still did the BayBay thing. Kassius Ohno came out first and was hyping up the crowd. Gargano made his entrance and WOW everyone loves this dude. I was surprised by how over he is. Mcintyre is just a massive dude. Fun Match. CFO wins with Bobby Fish getting the roll up win.

Heavy Machinery then come back out and they all do a sort of Shield surrounding the ring type thing. They jump in and take out CFO with all of them hitting Cole one after another. Interesting that this seems to be the new babyface way of doing things. Isolating one heel and ganging up to beat one guy up. Weird, but it was a fun way to end the night. All the babyfaces walked around the ringside taking pics with everyone.

FINAL THOUGHTS: NXT Live shows always deliver and they lowered the house lights for every match so it gave it a super cool look. I always feel like I get my money’s worth with NXT.
