ANNOUNCED BY NXT…

  • Roderick Strong does battle against Andrade “Cien” Almas
  • Women’s battle royal for the final spot in the Fatal Four-Way title match at Takeover

“THE ENEMY OF MY ENEMY IS MY FRIEND?”

Currently NXT has been in a constant state of hostility. Champion Drew McIntyre has already had to deal with the consequences of holding the top prize, which is a giant target tattooed on your back. He’s already been taken to the limit by his first challenger Roderick Strong, and now has a scheduled showdown in San Antonio with the man who attacked him in Brooklyn, Adam Cole. That event takes place THE NIGHT BEFORE NXT invades Houston for Takeover WarGames where Drew was supposed to be defending against his next challenger.

Who that next challenger will be remains up in the air, but odds point to the red-hot Andrade “Cien” Almas who has put together a slew of victories in a row thanks to the guidance of his new valet Zelina Vega. Zelina has already confronted Drew and let him know that the NXT Championship is the only thing her and Almas concern themselves with. However, he hasn’t earned a shot yet, and tonight he’ll be clashing with Strong in singles action. Roddy perhaps can throw his name into the title picture once again if he emerges victorious, but what the NXT universe really wants to know is if he plans on aligning himself with his former Ring of Honor mates in the Undisputed.

FOLD THE PAGE, SAVE THE CHAPTER”

Meanwhile, the monsters Akam and Rezar have returned to Full Sail with mastermind Paul Ellering in a quest to reclaim their tag-team championships. The Authors have been absent since SANITY shocked them at the Barclay’s Center, but they refuse to let that be their final NXT chapter. Last week they ran in and beat down Eric Young and company during their matchup with the Undisputed. Fortunately Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, and Kyle O’Reilly escaped the Author’s warpath, but something tells me that next time they won’t be so lucky. Don’t forget, the reDRagon did attack Ellering’s boys in Brooklyn also. A title rematch will most likely be coming, but something bigger looms in the background for all parties involved.

ONE SPOT LEFT”

-Probably the craziest of the SANITY crew is their Scottish heroine Nikki Cross. In her first attempt Nikki failed to claim a spot in the Fatal-Four way for the vacant women’s championship that’s happening at Houston but was able to secure one more opportunity and enter the women’s battle royal this evening. Whoever survives tonight will join the likes of Peyton Royce, Ember Moon, and the always dangerous Kairi Sane.

-Velveteen Dream has stolen Aleister Black’s vest, proving once and for all that if you really want to get someone’s attention, you must commit a crime. (Specifically murder, but theft is right up there.) The animosity between these two is slowing dripping over the edge, and I have a feeling that something drastic may happen to push this future bout over the edge.

-Heavy Machinery and the Street Profits are a lot of fun to watch, and may be coming up as future contenders for the NXT Tag belts. Until then, let’s dance, chest bump, and enjoy.

-Can anyone stop Lars Sullivan? Probably, but one thing that’s certain is that Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan can’t do it on their own. Sorry boys.

Great matchup in Strong vs. Almas. Looking forward to it! Are you?
