TV Asahi announced at a press conference on Feb. 27 that NJPW World subscribers went up 40% ahead of Wrestle Kingdom 12 on Jan. 4. The numbers were broken down as foreign subscriptions to NJPW’s OTT service going up 80% with U.S. subscription seeing a 60% increase.

It was also revealed during the press conference that NJPW has big expectations for their next U.S. event in March when they run Strong Style Evolved on March 25. TV Asashi claimed that subscription numbers went up 15% for NJPW World, which indicated the company was creating compelling globel content. Chris Jericho, who wrestled Kenny Omega at Wrestle Kingdom on Jan. 4 was given credit for the big overall increase of subscriptions.

Asahi are trumpeting NJPW’s presence in the U.S. and have high hopes for Strong Style Evolved. Last year’s LA shows saw a 15% bump in subscriber numbers overall at NJPW World.
