5/24 ROH Honor United In-Person Notes: Crowd size, crowd chants, meet & greet, who was most over with crowd

ROH HONOR UNITED IN-PERSON REPORT
May 24, 2018
EDINBURGH, UNITED KINGDOM AT EDINBURGH CORN EXCHANGE
REPORT BY TONY COTTAM, PWTORCH CORRESPONDENT

You have the matches covered on your show report, so here’s some notes from the live experience in Edinburgh

•The meet and greet before was well organized, biggest queue was for Tanahashi when I was there – very pleasant, talkative, and extremely good English.

•The crowd looked pretty full, not entirely sold out. There were a few empty seats near me, but just a handful. The Corn Exchange is a great venue for wrestling, probably set up for just over 1,000 fans and maybe fell just short of that, around 900-950 by my guestimate.

•Fans were quiet at times, but warmed up when the action got flowing. Tanahashi, Young Bucks, Cody, and hometown hero Joe Hendry got the biggest reception, followed by Yano, EVIL, SANADA, and Kenny King, for some reason.

•The song that your reporter couldn’t pick up during the Silas Young vs. Joe Hendry match? Well, it was to the tune of Seven Nation Army and was “Silas Young is a fanny” – which means something totally different in Scotland than does in the U.S.! Also, Kenny King had the “Kenny is the bollocks” chant that ICW and now WWE UK wrestler Kenny Williams usually gets – a good thing, in this case.

•Delerious and Yano’s antics were hugely over with the crowd, and the Boys’ screeching before every move garnered some laughs as well.

•Bully Ray’s appearance got a big pop but his face-off with the fan gathered more laughs than heel heat.

•So good to see the ROH guys and some top NJPW stars wrestle in our neck of the woods; really felt like everyone just appreciated the experience of watching them perform, but did get involed as the night went on. Well worth the £30 I paid for my ticket, and roll on the next show they run here!
