SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

Bobby Lashley was interviewed on 98.5’s Wrestling Inside The Ropes podcast ahead of Raw coming to the TD Garden on July 9. Lashley talked about preparing for his match against Roman Reigns at Extreme Rules on July 15 saying it’s everything to him right now:

“This is everything for me right now, he said. “To have the opportunity to go against him. He’s kind of the face of the company and he has been for some time. The fact that I get to wrestle him so soon and battle him so soon. I mean the preparation is just like preparing for a fight. You gotta be prepared. We’re sports entertainment but we have to go out there and be physically ready and have everything in tune to have a great match. Not necessarily as a stepping stone to get to Brock, but I know that’s the guy I need to beat to get to Brock, so I want to have a great match and I just want to show that I am better.”

Lashley also talked about his match against Umaga at WrestleMania 23 with President Donald Trump in his corner and Vince McMahon in Umaga’s corner. The match featured a hair vs. hair stipulation with Trump and McMahon’s hair on the line based on the winner of the match. Lashley said it was good to work with Trump because he was open to anything to make the match work

“It was actually good,” he said. “When we went out there… in wrestling especially when there’s so many moving parts like we had from Stone Cold Steve Austin as referee, me and Umaga wrestling, Trump and Vince in there, Shane McMahon in there. I mean there were so many moving parts and so many people had their responsibilities to make that match successful. I remember him coming in. He wasn’t one that came barging his way in and telling us how to do what we had to do. He just came in there and said, ‘Hey, look, I want to make this match as amazing as it could be so what can I do.’ I thought that was really cool. He said what can I do, so Vince and different people said let’s do this and if we can do this and he opened up doors for us that I don’t think we had before. I think he brought so much notoriety to the match. It was great all the way around.”

Other highlights of the interview included:

-Lashley saying he returned to WWE because of “Unfinished business.”

-Lashley mentioned one of his goals that he is now in WWE is getting a one on one match with Brock Lesnar. Lashley said he’d be “more than interested” in wrestling Lesnar.
