-Mundo was admiring the gauntlet backstage with Taya. Mundo told Taya that if he is somehow sacrificed to the gods that he wants her to know he loves her. After Mundo walked off, the creepy doll Rosa spoke to Taya. Taya became confused that the doll was able to talk to her without its string being pulled. Rosa told Taya she is the perfect woman and the perfect corpse or host? (couldn’t understand the last word). Taya looked at Rosa closely before she was shaking the doll.

-Title Card

In Ring: Santos welcomed the audience to Ultima Lucha Cuatro.

Announcers: Striker quickly introduced the show before throwing back to Santos.

In Ring: Santos introduced El Dragon Azteca followed by Fenix.

(1) EL DRAGON AZTECA JR. vs. FENIX – Two-out-of-Thre Falls match

They traded chops to begin. Fenix caught Dragon with a diamond cutter. Dragon flipped over Fenix for a pin attempt followed by a drop kick. Dragon then dove onto Fenix at ringside. Fenix escaped a top rope dive the hit a spinning powerbomb for the first pin. Fenix leads 1-0.

Fenix grabbed a chair from under the ring and tossed it into the ring. Fenix grabbed a table from under the ring then hit Dragon with a German Suplex. Dragon made a comeback with a flurry of kicks then a DDT for a pin. Tied 1-1.

Antonio came out to the ringside and announced that the last fall would be fall count anywhere.

Fenix created a pile of chairs at ringside. Fenix attempted a supex from the ring apron, but Dragon kicked Fenix off then hit him over the head with a steel chair. Dragon rammed Fenix into the announce table then grabbed another table from under the ring. Fenix hit Dragon then attempted another pin before grabbed several more tables from under the ring. Back in the ring, Dragon hit a springboard dropkick then setup a table in the ring. Dragon went back to Fenix on the outside and hit a DDT. Dragon and Fenix fought into the crowd then stood on the barricade before Dragon hit a hurricarana to Fenix through the table. Fenix set Dragon on a table then leaped off the top turnbuckle. Fenix missed most of the table therefore the table did not break. Dragon got Fenix on the top turnbuckle and hit a sunset flip through the table for a near fall. Dragon grabbed a chair from under the ring. Santos stopped Dragon from hitting Fenix which allowed for Fenix to hit Dragon over the head. Fenix then speared Dragon through another table then hit a blackbird driver for the win. Santos walked out of the temple before making any announcement.

WINNER: Fenix at 15:20. This was a descent match but it felt like it could’ve been a lot more if they didn’t have so many convoluted table spots. It seemed like they only had the 2-out-of-3 falls format so they could sneak in some early commercial breaks.

Ringside: Antonio announced that Melissa Santos has left the building. Fortunately he had a blockbuster deal with lucha royalty who will announce for the rest of the night. Antonio introduced Shaul Guerrero as guest ring announcer.

Famous B interrupted Shaul as she was making her first announcement. B said he is the one who does the guest ring announcing around here. He gave her one of his business and said to the call this number if she wants to be famous. Shaul borrowed her mother’s catchphrase excuse me and listed off her long family heritage which led to a loud chant for Eddie. Shaul showed fire and threatened to kick B’s ass before calling him Famous B****. Chavo showed up behind B for the distraction before Shaul could hit her father’s signature move the three amigos. Chavo went up to the top rope and hit a frog splash before they tossed him out of the ring.

[JD’s Reax: Really nice moment for the Guerrero family getting a huge ovation for Eddie. I’d like to see more Shaul because she carries herself with a lot of swagger.]

In ring: Shaul introduced The Mack followed by Mil Muertes. Mil pushed a casket that said death match to the ring.

(2) THE MACK vs. MIL MUERTES – Death match

Both men landed stiff shots to start the match. Mack hit a flying knee then clotheslined Mil to the outside then dove onto him. Mil hit a DDT on the ring apron then grabbed another coffin from the backstage area. They brawled on top of the casket before Mil face planted Mack. Mil clotheslined Mack back in the ring. Mack escaped and hit a big boot followed by a back breaker and a corner splash. Mack open the casket which was filled with weapons. Mil dove onto Mack then Mil pulled some of the weapons out. Mil grabbed an axe and attempted to kill Mack with it. Mack stopped him, but Mil was able to grab an ice pick and hit Mack in the forehead with it. Mack hit a flying knee then tossed a trash can into the ring. Mack set the can on Mil and went coast-to-coast off the top turnbuckle. Mil came back with a chokeslam. Mack dodged a spear then started to rip at Mil’s mask. Mack hit Mil with a kendo stick then tossed him back into the ring. Mack hit a DDT for a near fall back into the ring. Mil hit a clothesline for another near fall. Mack awkwardly slammed Mil then hit a standing moonsault. Mil caught Mack with an inside powerslam. Mil countered Mack with a devastating flatliner. Mack countered a chokeslam with a 2 stunners. Mack grabbed a brick and busted it over Mil’s head then gave him the finer and called him a mother F***** before hitting a stunner for the win.

WINNER: The Mack at 12:53. This match was hard hitting, but of course it was filled with all the ridiculous weapon that would kill a person. Even Vampiro pointed out the absurdity of how they treat these weapons like they are normal.

Post match: Mack dragged Mil and rolled him into the coffin. Mack celebrated with two beers stone cold style before shutting the coffin.

In-ring: Shaul introduced Johnny Mundo to the ring. Antonio told Mundo the gauntlet does not belong to him and he will be laying in a pool of blood when he’s the next sacrifice to the gods. Matanza came to the ring wearing an aztec headdress and he wore traditional wrestling tights, a leather belt and a tight shirt instead of his usual jumpsuit.

(3) JOHNNY MUNDO vs. MATANZA CUETO – Sacrifice to the Gods match

Mundo overpowered Matanza with the gauntlet. Matanza stripped Mundo of the gauntlet. Matanza hit axis of the world then a torture rack drop. Mundo countered wrath of the gods then hit moonlight drive. Mundo hit end of the world for a near fall. Matanza caught Mundo on the ropes and hit a german suplex. Mundo crawled under the ring and grabbed the gauntlet. Matanza knocked over Mundo before he could put it on. Matanza picked up the gauntlet and threw it to the top of the temple. Mundo made his way to the top of temple to look for the gauntlet. Mundo tried to leap to another part of the temple, but he slipped and was caught by Matanza. Mundo escaped and climbed back to the area where the glove was thrown. Mundo grabbed the gauntlet, but Matanza choke slammed Mundo through the roof of the freezer. Music played and the announcers assumed the match was over before Mundo emerged from the freezer wearing the gauntlet. He punched through the the steel chair Matanza was using to protect himself. Matanza retreated to the ring then caught Mundo with the wrath of the gods. Mundo kicked out of the pin attempt then hit Matanza with several superman punches. Mundo hit a superman punch from the top rope then pinned Matanza.

WINNER: Mundo at 11:54. If you can get past the absurdity of the the glove having special powers, this match was really fun. This is one of my favorite performances by Jeff Cobb as the Matanza character because he was able to sell the power of the gauntlet very well.

-Mundo asked AeroStar if he has seen Taya. AeroStar told Mundo that the power he is holding is destroying him. He said that if he continues to wear the gauntlet he will be nothing but a shell because a god will inhabit his body. Mundo relinquished the gauntlet. AeroStar told Mundo that he was a good man. Mundo said he’s not and he’s going to go celebrate with his wife now.

In ring: Shaul introduced Pentagon Dark followed by Marty Martinez.

(4) Lucha Underground Champion MARTY “THE MOTH” MARTINEZ vs. PENTAGON DARK – Cero Miedo Lucha Underground Championship match

Pentagon attacked Marty to begin the match. Pentagon tossed Marty around the outside. Marty countered Pentagon and hip tossed him through a table. Marty hit Pentagon with a kendo stick then began to tear at Pentagon’s mask. Marty opened his lunch box to pull out a fork. Marty jammed the fork into Pentagon’s forehead. Marty tossed a pile of chairs onto Pentagon. Pentagon got up and leaped off of the announce table to hit a mexican destroyer. Marty kicked out of the pin attempt then attacked Pentagon. Marty placed a trash can on Pentagon’s head then hit him with the barbed wire baseball bat. Marty retrieved a tank of gasoline from under the ring and poured it on to Pentagon. Marty teased lighting Pentagon on fire before Pentagon kicked the lighter out of Marty’s hand. Marty charged after Pentagon then Pentagon tossed Marty over the top rope and through a table. Pentagon threw Marty through a pane of glass at ringside. Pentagon setup chairs inside thring and hit a package piledriver for the win.

WINNER: Pentagon at 12:46 to win the Lucha Underground Championship. If you like lots of blood, weapons and more highspots this one’s for you.

Post match: Reclusa attacked Pentagon from behind then dragged Marty out of the ring. Vampiro entered the ring and handed the belt to Pentagon. Vampiro kicked Pentagon in the groin then the two brawled with each other. A person in similar Pentagon attire attacked Pentagon from behind. Vampiro said he wanted to introduce his master. The mystery man hit a shooting star press from the top of the temple onto Pentagon. He then hit a corkscrew attack from the top rope. Jake Strong made his way down to the ring. He said that Cueto made it clear to him that he could cash in his belt anytime he wants.

(5) Lucha Underground Champion PENTAGON DARK vs. JAKE STRONG – Lucha Underground Championship match

Strong cinched in the ankle lock and twisted Pentagon’s ankle. Pentagon passed out and the referee called for the bell.

WINNER: Strong at :42 to win the Lucha Underground Championship. They had been building up Strong since his debut so this doesn’t come as a surprise. He has been playing this role well as a dominant wrestler, but it feels like we’ve seen this before when Matanza was dominating everyone. I would have liked to have seen Pentagon hold the title longer and especially Marty. Marty’s reign was over before it even got started.

-AeroStar, Cuerno and Dragon discussed then need to hide the gauntlet. Dragon said the god are too strong now but if they strike now it may give them the advantage they need. Dragon walked off with the Gauntlet.

-Black Lotus confronted Matanza and told him that she knows El Dragon Azteca didn’t kill her parents it was him. Lotus wielded the gauntlet and attacked Matanza eventually ripping his black heart out of his body. Dragon told Lotus that now her parents can finally be at peace. When Lotus left, Strong attacked Dragon and snapped his ankle. Strong grabbed the gauntlet and beat his chest with it.

-Mundo met up with Taya in the locker room. Mundo asked her where she was during his match. Taya turned round and grabbed Mundo by the throat and told him that she was not his wife. She drove him through the lockers then told him she is a god while the creepy doll laugh played.

-Antonio discussed with the Pentagon’s mystery attacker and Agent Winter about the state of the gods. Strong entered the limo and was asked about the blood on his shirt. He said it was Matanza’s Antonio silently mourned his death while Winter acknowledged him as a great host who won’t be forgotten. The other mystery man smoking a cigar at the end of the limo said it’s time to find a new host. The man emerged and asked if anyone else had any bad news. Yes, Bad News Barrett is now a crime boss. Barrett said they will now take over the world.

-A flashback to one year ago showed Antonio taking the key off of Dario’s neck while he laid in the casket. Fast forward to now, AeroStar opened the casket which hasn’t been buried yet for some reason. He placed the complete medallion over Dario’s neck. Dario woke up and said AeroStar? What the fu…….

FINAL THOUGHTS: That is a wrap on season 4 of Lucha Underground. LU seems pretty confident they will be getting another season based on that ending. It seems like they have a destination of where they are going with the gods and the return of Dario. I will be giving my in-depth thoughts with Greg Parks this Sunday on Wrestling Night in America. I want to hear from those who follow LU and we can work together to decipher these storylines and discuss the series.

NOW CHECK OUT LAST WEEK’S REPORT: 10/31 Lucha Underground TV Report (season 4, ep. 21): Killshot vs. Son of Havoc, Taya Mundo vs. Ricky Mundo, Reptile Tribe vs. Rabbit Tribe vs. Guevara & Ivelisse & Lishus

2 Comments on 11/7 Lucha Underground TV Report (season 4, ep. 22): Johnny Mundo vs. Matanza Cueto, Martinez vs. Pentagon Dark, Jake Strong (Jack Swagger) vs. Pentagon Dark, Azteca Jr. vs. Fenix

  1. They should have never killed Dario Cueto especially if they brought back the same actor to play his father which is semi ridiculous in the first place. The show was much more entertaining with Dario Cueto anyway. The matches are great on LU and that is why I continue to watch but they have to figure out if they want to be wrestling or a comic book drama. I am curious to see what happens in season 5 if it is renewed for another season. Maybe they can get more castoffs from the E and make something out of them.

    • I think if you want to see more castoffs you should go back to watching WWE. The thing that Lucha Underground did well was not try to be WWE. You have enough comic wrestling in WWE. Their product is a joke. Lucha Underground is more adult oriented, I have no idea who the audience for WWE is, I guess people that like fart jokes?
