SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

The following is the latest in a new series of weekly in-depth articles exclusive to PWTorch which will help put in perspective major wrestling promotions with a weekly overview, looking at news and roster developments, results, future line-ups, social media activity, key interviews, plus a timely commentary at the end. We will be featuring similar features on other promotions each week and each will be updated weekly.

•Top Stories of the Week

  • Slow week in NXT with the last of the televised tapings from San Jose playing Wednesday night.  Feels like a little two week cooling off period after an unbelievable TakeOver WarGames.
  • The next challengers for every NXT Championships have yet to be determined (as long as you don’t read the spoilers….which I don’t).  With Takeover Phoenix nearly two months away, NXT can afford to slow play their storylines….which is a beautiful thing because they NEVER disappoint.

•NXT Live Event Results

  • No Live Results this week except for the TV Tapings from San Jose, California and I don’t do spoilers.

•NXT in the media

  • Samoa Joe gave an awesome interview this week and heaped some very high praise on a few NXT superstars.  NXT is a murderer’s row. Lars Sullivan, here’s a guy that I feel a lot of fans haven’t really seen his full potential, and he’s getting to come into his own. He’ll be an interesting addition to whichever roster he lands on. Keith Lee is a big, incredible athlete. Then there’s Matt Riddle. He has a tremendous combat pedigree, and he’s made a triumphant transition to pro wrestling. He’s a force to be reckoned with.” LINK
  • HBK recently went on the E&C Pod of Awesomeness and discussed his new role in NXT and how he’s adjusted to life as a mentor to up and coming NXT superstars. LINK

•Top NXT Tweets of the Week

So many follow up questions to this tweet….

They have to get WWE approval for these tweets right? Which means it eventually comes to a head? God, I hope so.

New Day is the best.

Ciampa Tweet of the Year? Possibly….

•Thoughts and Comments

  • I feel the need to comment on Monday Night Raw this past week.  That was the worst three hours in the history of Monday Night Raw.  NOTHING was a hit.  EVERYTHING was a miss.  Just terrible, terrible writing.  The roster is so deep and so talented yet the storylines and writing are at an all time low.
  • Never understand the need to “put over” a departing NXT superstar at the cost of a future star.  Keith Lee could have used the win a lot more than Lars Sullivan this week.  Bye, bye Lars.
  • With EC3 calling out Bobby Fish, I would take that to mean that Fish is giving it a go in the Men’s single division.  Will be interesting to see how that all plays out and how they use all four members of Undisputed Era going forward.
  • Speaking of EC3….how is he not getting the call to the main roster but Lars Sullivan is?  He’s more polished in the ring, more polished on the mic, and he is spinning his wheels in NXT.  I can’t imagine he’s been happy with his second WWE run up to this point.
