•Closing Commentary

Impact Wrestling has recently brought in talents such as Jordynn Grace, Willie Mack, and The Rascalz, but they have also seen the departures of Austin Aries and Trevor Lee. Impact has to make more key signings in 2019 in order to stay somewhat relevant.

My first choice would be signing indy wrestling phenomenon Sammy Guevara. On TV in the United States, he has worked primarily for MLW and made a few sporadic appearances for Impact. Currently, he is signed to Aro Lucha, but it seems they have gone through a rough patch and it may be a while before they run more shows. I’m not sure how much Aro Lucha taped, but I would assume its 2-3 months of episodes. If Sammy Guevara can sign with a company, Impact should aggressively go after Guevara. He has unlimited potential and could easily fill the void left by Austin Aries.

MLW and Impact seem to have some sort of working relations as The Lucha Bros, Rich Swann, and Sami Callihan have all worked for both promotions in 2018. If nothing changes and this is the same for 2019, it would be cool to see Tom Lawler come in and challenge for the world title. Maybe we could see MLW and Impact have talent exchanged for a program and then return to their home promotion.

As I stated last week, 2019 is going to be a very interesting year for the wrestling industry. If Impact isn’t willing to be open-minded and spend money, it could be the beginning of the end. Also, the next two episodes of Impact will be “best of” episodes. What a way to kill any momentum they had going into the Homecoming PPV.
