FINAL THOUGHTS: Battlecade XIX was my first CWF Mid-Atlantic event and definitely won’t be my last. The show ran about 3 hours and 43 minutes which was a bit too long for my liking, but it wasn’t terrible. CWF did so much right that other independent promotions fail at which is storytelling. For instance, the heel manager Coach Gemini announced prior to the match that if Trevor Lee lost tonight, he would not only lose his title but have to leave the promotion forever. With rumors of Lee signing with WWE, I thought this would be a logical way to write him out of the promotion. But after a 43 minute main-event, Lee successfully defended his Heavyweight title. If all you know of Trevor Lee is from Impact, I highly encourage you to seek out his AAW or CWF matches. He and Arik Royal gave fans watching at home and in the building a great 40-plus minute match. John Skyler was also incredible in his match against Cam Carter. Both of those wrestlers have tremendous talent and put on a great match. I do wish the Skyler vs. Carter match was given more time as I felt a 15 time limit was not enough. Overall, this show was fantastic and helped me realize why I originally became a fan of professional wrestling. If you’re in the Carolinas, I highly recommend attending a show.
