SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

WWE LIVE EVENT RESULTS
DECEMBER 30, 2018
TAMPA, FLA. AT AMALIE ARENA
REPORT BY PAUL ZIMMERMAN, PWTORCH CORRESPONDENT

If you attend a live event, please send results in the format of the following report to pwtorch@pwtorch.com. Thanks!

Approximately 6-7,000 in attendance.

(1) The Bar defeated The Usos and The New Day in Triple Threat Match. Slow to start as both New Day and Usos had to get their supposed “entertainment” spots in. Didn’t actually get going until the last couple minutes of the 15 minute match. Cesaro pinned one of the Usos with a rollup.

(2) Titus O’ Neil defeated Killian Dane. Dane came out and issued an open challenge. Titus accepted. Mercifully, this was only about a minute and a half. Titus won with his finisher.

(3) Mustafa Ali defeated Andrade Cien Almas in 8:00. Ali won with a 360 off the top.

R-Truth and Carmella came out for a dance break. Almas and Vega jumped them in the middle. R-Truth and Carmella cleared the ring of them and then got some kids in the ring and did their dance break routine.

(4) Jeff Hardy defeated Samoa Joe in 7:00. Joe claimed we have plenty of disappointment in our lives which shows he was watching the first two matches here. He gave Hardy the chance to leave. He didn’t. Hardy won with a splash. The match was just there.

(5) John Cena defeated Miz. The match was exactly what you would expect a Miz-Cena match just before intermission of a house show to be. Cena won after an Attitude Adjustment and I think a backhand to the face.

Intermission.

(6) Lana & Naomi defeated Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville in 8:00. Naomi pinned Rose with a kick off the second rope. It was okay. I’ve seen worse.

(7) Rusev defeated Shinsuke Nakamura in 13:00 after a Machka Kick. Okay match.

(8) Asuka defeated Charlotte and Becky Lynch when Asuka made Charlotte tapout in 16:00. Very good match.

(9) Daniel Bryan defeated A.J. Styles in a cage match in 16:00. Oddly, quite a few people were leaving during the match. Styles went for the Styles Clash, but Bryan rolled through, hit A.J. with a low blow, and crawled out of the cage. Average at best.

FINAL THOUGHTS: Overall it was a good show. Enjoyed the evening out.

  1. Interesting part left out was the Iconics were the “guest ring announcers” for the Rose/Deville vs. Naomi/Lana match. Iconics were dressed as kangaroos with New Year’s Eve hats on. They did their usual mic work and interfered several times before the referee forced them to the back.
I really didn’t notice anyone leaving the Styles/Bryan match until the match was over and Bryan took the mic back and berated the fans and went back in to continue a beatdown only to end up getting a terrible looking low blow and Styles Clash. Fans were definitely piling out as that was happening.

  2. Few improvements
    -Killian Dain not Killian Dane
-The “backhand to the fist” is a new finisher Cena has been using called “lightning fist” counted as one of his five (now six) moves of doom. Been using it as his finisher at numerous house shows and at Crown Jewel.
-choose a fact based match analysis or an editorial. Commenting that matches are ok or that you’ve seen worse doesn’t provide much info n doesn’t make you sound very professional.

Other than those few minor issues, good work on the article.
And yes, I do have too much time on my hands.
