SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

The following is the latest in a new series of weekly in-depth articles exclusive to PWTorch which will help put in perspective major wrestling promotions with a weekly overview, looking at news and roster developments, results, future line-ups, social media activity, key interviews, plus a timely commentary at the end. We will be featuring similar features on other promotions each week and each will be updated weekly.

•Top Stories of the Week

  • It’s a new year in the world of ROH. As a result, we have not had any real programming from ROH since Final Battle. I will discuss that more in my closing comments.
  • The only real news of note was the announcement of ROH and the NWA are teaming up to resurrect the Crockett Cup on April 27th, 2019. The event will take place at Cabarrus Arena in Concord, NC. ROH will help to support the tag team tournament at the event. This should help to boost the recently depleted tag team division.

•Social Media Scene

Below is this week’s round-up of social media posts from ROH personalities.

New Era ROH is the best ROH

I need current ROH Talent to be better at Twitter. That is all.

•Closing Commentary

At the top of the column I teased that there has been no new content from ROH (TV episodes or Honorclub events) since the Final Battle PPV. The past three weeks of TV have been: 1) A holiday Special episode, 2) A ROH Recap, and 3) a WOH Recap. This is with a TV taping that took place on 12/16/18.

That means that we are waiting almost an entire month before that TV taping will make its way to our screens. In 2019 this is unacceptable to me.

As a fan, I can look up spoilers for TV tapings, which I typically don’t do, as long as I get some content within a reasonable amount of time. But, If I have to wait this long, believe that I’m diving into spoilers and losing interest when it finally becomes a part of canon.

Overall, I think that ROH’s New Year’s resolution needs to be to get their timeline streamlined better in 2019. This is a major reason I think ROH is having a hard time getting a lot of new people to watch this product. You need a corkboard and red strings sometimes if you only watch TV and not Honorclub events, or vice versa.

I am excited for fresh new content to hit my DVR next week, and overall, I am looking forward to ROH in 2019.
