I attended Money in the Bank last night in Hartford and I have some general morning-after thoughts.

•Most interesting of note was the finish of the main event. The Brock Lesnar run-in was interesting. I popped, as did the friends I was with, and it seemed as though most fans did as well. However, AFTER the event, walking in the concession area towards exits, there were loud “AEW” chants. Not sure if that was happening elsewhere, but certainly some grumbling in the bathroom about that ending. As one person put it, “That was some WCW stuff.”

•I did see a number of Bullet Club/AEW-related shirts. “AEW is Jericho,” for example. So maybe a smarter crowd than usual.

•Outside, there were loud calls of “F— Brock Lesnar.” I suppose this is what happens when you train the audience a guy doesn’t care and reality starts to reflect the story.

•There were for sure some boring chants during the Cruiserweight Championship match. People just don’t know these guys, no matter how flashy they might be. It’s unfortunate, but true.

•People seemed underwhelmed by the Rey Mysterio vs. Samoa Joe match, almost seeing it like it was an accidental finish. I think Joe losing in this fluke way AGAIN does nothing for Rey and makes Joe look like a chump. Long gone are the days of the dominating ROH Champion that he was, through no fault of his own. (I did read this was possibly shortened due to blood/a broken nose, but still).

•Shane McMahon STILL does not want people to see his shirtless body. What’s the point of getting into good shape if you hide your midsection with a shirt? So odd.

•It certainly did sound like there were some boos for Roman. And his music seemed louder than others but it could just be me.

•VERY hot crowd for the Bayley cash-in and it felt like a feel-good moment with her going into the crowd a la DDP in his People’s Champion era. Very cool, and hopefully the start of good things.

•Finn Balor seemed to take a LOT of punishment. I jokingly wondered if he made a pass at Stephanie, as he took some of the more brutal bumps. The chokeslam onto the upright ladder was rough, but that sunset flip powerbomb was ridiculous.
