If you attend a live event, please send results with details on the matches, crowd reactions, and attendance to pwtorch@pwtorch.com. Thanks!

(1) Kevin Owens defeated Andrade following a Stunner.

After the match, 24/7 Champion R-Truth was introduced as the special guest ring announcer for the next match.

(2) Chad Gable defeated EC3 by tap out via a grapevine Ankle Lock.

After the match, while Gable was celebrating, EC3 pinned R-Truth via schoolboy roll up to become the new 24/7 champion. The two of them fought up and down the ramp and back into the ring. R-Truth slammed EC3. The ring announcer gave Gable a referee shirt. Gable gave R-Truth a fast count over EC3. R-Truth regained the 24/7 championship.

(3) Xia Li & Carmella defeated Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville after Xia Li hit her version the Robinson Special (Will Osprey’s move.)

Initially, the match was Xia Li vs. Mandy Rose but Sonya immediately got involved in the match. Carmella ran out for the save. Xia Li got on the mic and asked the crowd (in Chinese) if she should team with Carmella. The crowd replied in the affirmative and the tag match began.

Next, there was a video package about WWE Network in China that showed the wrestlers doing things with the locals around China.

(4) Shinsuke Nakamura (w/Sami Zayn) defeated Ali following a Kinshasa to retain the Intercontinental Championship.

After the match, Sami celebrated with Nakamura. Sami got on the mic and claimed no one could beat him. Then, he made an open challenge to anyone in the back. Roman Reigns accepted the challenge.

(5) Roman Reigns defeated Sami Zayn following a spear.

10-MINUTE INTERMISSION

(6) Bayley defeated Charlotte Flair to retain the Smackdown Women’s Championship in a Street Fight. Bayley won following a drop toehold into a chair that had been lodged into the corner turnbuckle.

(7) The Revival defeated The New Day (Big E & Xavier Woods) when Scott Dawson pinned Big E to retain the Smackdown Tag Team Championships. It ended with a schoolboy roll up after Big E hit his head on the exposed top turnbuckle.

MAIN EVENT

(8) Kofi Kingston retained the WWE Championship over Daniel Bryan following Trouble in Paradise. During the match, Daniel Bryan hit Kofi Kingston win his running knee finisher and Kofi kicked out at two-and-a-half. I can’t recall anyone kicking out of that move in recent memory.

OTHER NOTES:

-Being the only Chinese wrestler at the show, the crowd was very excited to cheer for Xia Li but she is still very green.

-Fans seemed very confused, but many kids still cheered for Bayley during her match even though Charlotte was booked as the babyface.

-Also, during the Daniel Bryan and Kofi match, most fans did not boo Daniel Bryan. The Chinese crowd was still very much interested in cheering him throughout the match.

-The kid sitting next to me was very excited for the entire show, but particularly excited for Ali. I heard him cheering “0-5-4” (Ali’s finish) in Chinese several times during the match.

-My friends and I have been to several OWE shows in town. There is one fan that goes to all the OWE shows and wears a lucha mask. He was sitting near us at the WWE Live event carrying a “OWE x AEW” flag, wearing an AEW shirt and his trademark lucha mask.

-Shirts for Sale: The Man, Roman Reigns, New Day, Stun Owens Stun, WWE in China 9.21.19  “I Was There.”

-Tickets were 1080 RMB, which is about $152 USD at my time of writing this. We sat in the first row off the floor. The tickets were overpriced in my opinion, but the RMB is kind of poor at the moment.

-The building (Mercedes Benz Arena Shanghai) was about 65-75% full.

-This is my third year in a row going to this show.
