SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

ROH TV REPORT
OCTOBER 6, 2019
AIRED ON ROHWRESTLING.COM
REPORT BY HARLEY R. PAGEOT, PWTORCH CONTRIBUTOR

Hosts: Ian Riccaboni, Quinn McKay

Opening theme.

-A compilation video played of random highlights of luchadors doing flips from recent ROH events.

-Riccaboni and McKay checked in. They billed this as a lucha libre special.

-Our first match came from Global Wars Espectacular: Villa Park on September 7. Riccaboni and Caprice Coleman were on commentary.

(1) “EL TORO BLANCO” RUSH vs. BÁRBARO CAVERNARIO

After some action on the outside Rush came up bleeding from the shoulder at 5:45. He hit The Bull’s Horns for the win.

WINNER: Rush in 8:45.

-Riccaboni and McKay spoke about the world title #1 contender tournament. At Glory By Honor on October 13 the semi-finals (PCO vs. Dalton Castle, Jay Lethal vs. Marty Scurll) and finals will take place.

-A video played with comments from Castle and Scurll over footage of them in action. Castle said he knows what it takes to get to the main event. Scurll said he’s done everything in professional wrestling yet somehow the ROH title has eluded him. This is his final opportunity (because his contract runs out in November and why on earth would anyone choose to re-sign with ROH at this point?). [C]

-Highlights aired of Jay Lethal, Jonathan Gresham, & Jeff Cobb vs. Caristico, Stuka Jr., & Triton also from Global Wars Espectacular: Villa Park. Lethal & Gresham hit the Keller Cutter on Triton for the win in 14:37. [C]

-Our next match came from Global Wars Espectacular: Dearborn on September 6. Riccaboni, Coleman, and Colt Cabana were on commentary. My original report was as follows.

(2) VILLAIN ENTERPRISES (Flip Gordon & ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions Marty Scurll, PCO, & Brody King) vs. TEAM CMLL (Rey Bucanero, Hechicero, Okumura, & Bárbaro Cavernario)

Scurll and Hechicero started. PCO and Cavernario next. Gordon and Okumura for round three. New heel Gordon was put into the role of the sympathetic figure fighting from underneath as the four luchadors worked him over. The referee was made to look like an imbecile by constantly standing in VE’s corner and lecturing them while CMLL cheated behind his back. King tagged in at 9:30 and worked over his opponents. Everything broke down. Quadruple-teaming to King in the ring. Something happened at ringside that the commentators freaked out over but the cameras missed it. King hit his Iwatani springboard armdrag to two of the men. People flipped over the ropes onto other people. In the end Scurll hit a backcracker to Okumura and King followed with a back senton to Okumura laid across Scurll’s knees.

WINNERS: Villain Enterprises in 15:50. [C]

-Our final match came from Global Wars Espectacular: Milwaukee on September 8. Riccaboni, Coleman, and Cabana were on commentary.

(3) VOLADOR JR., CARISTICO, & STUKA JR. vs. REY BUCANERO, HECHICERO, & OKUMURA

Volador pinned Hechicero following a Volador Special (hurricanra with both men standing on the top rope).

WINNERS: Team Técnico in 13:08.
