Walker Stewart announces contract extension with NJPW

Walker Stewart has signed a contract extension with NJPW and will continue as their English play by play announcer. Stewart announced the news on his contract extension on his X account today.

Stewart, who recently appeared at the AEWxNJPW Forbidden Door PPV and on a recent episode of AEW Collision, will also be taking select dates with AEW in 2026 and 2027. “I’m happy to announce that I’ve signed an extension of my contract with NJPW!,” Stewart wrote on his X account. “I’ve been very lucky to watch NJPW continue to grow and improve upon itself year after year since my debut with the company in 2023, and I am very lucky to continue my journey waving the lionmark banner.

“If you’re a fan of American wrestling, I’m also happy to report that I will be making limited appearances with All Elite Wrestling, with a few appearances confirmed for the rest of 2026 and more to come in 2027.”

Stewart confirmed that he will continue to work with Stardom in Japan and continue to take independent dates when he can as well. “Along with this, I continue to work with the great staff and athletes in Stardom to expand English content and commentary,” wrote Stewart. “Working with NJPW full time, or AEW in a per appearance capacity, will not impact any efforts toward Stardom.

“And with new faces like Jimbo (Bonji) joining that team, we continue to solidify our efforts in the World Wonder Ring. I will also continue to work with great independent wrestling organizations (both big and small) to provide commentary, video production, and more.”

Stewart thanked NJPW, Stardom, and AEW for allowing him to work with all three promotions moving forward. “I’m very grateful to both NJPW, Stardom, and AEW for allowing these partnerships,” wrote Stewart. “Proud to re-sign with New Japan Pro-Wrestling, to continue my work with Stardom, and to make good on a limited schedule with All Elite Wrestling.”

Stewart, who is 24-years-0ld, has been the lead voice of NJPW since 2023.
